Yeh, I'm no expert in this issue, but I like tough and/ or dark bands myself... *The 69 Eyes, Him, Cradle Of Filth, Placebo, Turbonegro* So I'm not sure to which subculture should I be encountered to: emos, goths, metals... Oh dear, oh dear

Yeh whatever  Ignore him. I don't reckon that being emo is bad. Everybody is just the way they like - matters not whether emo, goth, punk, atheist, gay, lesbian... I don't care

Basically the true meaning of being an "emo" is being "over-emotional"
I don't usually have a problem with emos. But some of them are such attention-seekers.
They slit their wrists because they have "problems".
I just feel like saying:
"Yeah, you think you've got issues.
Mine are so big I don't have time to worry.
Just go away and gel your starchy poker-straight hair and paint your nails black!"

Still, everybody thinks their problems are the worst.

FYI: I've posted my "You Could Be An Emo If" list in my blog space to make any additions easier for me to make. Submissions can be made via PMs to me.

Enjoy!

It's not about being attention seeking or thinking your problems are the worst. It is about emotional expression and that is healthy If you can express yourself what is bothering you through art, poetry, music or just talking to some one.

Deep depression, suicide, anger, lashing out and hurting other people is what can happen if people are not left with or have oppurtunity to explore and understand their feelings. It can take some people to a really dangerous place so let them complain. If it saves some ones life..
and i know what i am on about. Women seem better at expressing thier emotions than men and maybe thats why the mens prison has three or more times the population than the womens does.
Some well known to me has recently gone to prison for 7 years or more because he killed some one. He has never been able to handle his emotions or know how to express them. It doesnt matter who you are if you have issues serious enough and have not got help. You may lose all control and have no rational thinking
Some people split from reality and dont even have recall of whats happened.
It isnt an emotional disorder. It may of started as that. Then at some stage turned into a mental illness or disorder and its not fair because not all these people are bad. All they needed was some help but like we live in a society where, it's not so cool for a guy to crack up crying and say how he is really feeling.
I have had alot of problems with understanding and expressing myself as a result I was put away for some time. Ever since then i take what ever oppurtunity to work through what I am thinking or feeling and then I am not so confused and dont become erratic and impulsive.

It is just exactly why I asked this question at the first place... I don't know what it's like to be an emo. I only see few pieces of this puzzle...

Is emo who doesn't wear black clothes and doesn't have black-lined eyes is still an emo?

The true meaning of emo is emotionally charged hardcore.
