Hello

We are Debra and Bearsac. We joined a few days ago but have been away so have only got around to saying hi now.

I was diganosed 2 months ago with AS after diagnosing myself 8 months ago. Only mild and almost invisable, but Aspie anyway and proud.

Bearsac - who is a pre-occupation of mine - is a talking teddy bear rucksack and is famous where we live; he has his own website with photos of him with famous people, a teddy bear campaining page and a teddy bear problem page!

Hope you are all having a good day.

Debra and Bearsac :D

Welcome to the site. Do you find it good knowing there is others like you? Or do you feel bad about it being referred to as a disablity?

it meaning being aspergers.

It is great to know there are others like me out there, I was always the odd child who few children wanted to play with and whom other kids parents didn't want me staying over, despite being very well behaved.

I am happy to have AS so consider myself an Aspie. I think the barriers from society I have faced as a child and young adult and still now having being diagnosed late at 38 can sometimes make AS a disability but I also feel the sensory overload (which I hate) makes AS a slight disability for me.

I have no problems with calling myself disabled but find it strange to think of myself as such after years of not knowing.

I work in the disability campaigning field as a support worker in an organisation, which is run by people with learning difficulties, and so am comfortable with disability. I believe in the social model of disability but this does not mean I deny that any impairment can be disabling to me. I simply feel most disability is from barriers from society not just the AS traits.

I feel AS has blessed me with more than it has taken.

hello Debra, and hello Bearsac! *waves paw*

rouge and hippie would like to send Bearsac some hugs, if that's OK (with bears, it generally seems to be!)

Image

they're both NT. rouge was terribly naughty whilst taking that picture, he kept falling off the horse and pulling hippie down with him, she fell on the floor and hurt her head  I had to send him to bed without any honey!

and here's Stim-Stim the aspie panda

Image

I think she'd like some hugs too but she's too shy to ask

Hi Diva D, rouge, Hippie and stim stim.

I love the photo of stim stim and want to give her a hug and the other two too.
If stim stim wants, I can put her photo on my guestbears page. To see it click on the trees, then on the sign post branch that says Guest Bears. She could alternativley go on the dating page. You can email photo via [email protected] or by clicking on the bottle in the sea on my home page.

Emails go to to my boyfriend first and I may not get it until i'm back home on Wednesday if I don't get it before I go to bed tonight. I might need to compress the file so it only takes a small amount of space on the sight.

Anyone else wanting their teddy bears on the guest bear page or dating page feel free, but small file size please and a little about the bear too. see pages for examples.

it will probably take me that long to think of something to write about her... I made her myself (in 1997), that's how I know she's an aspie, think she must have got it from me :) Stim-Stim is a bit scared of the idea of dating, she's never even been to a picnic!
