Hi, I'm new to WP. Wanting to learn more to help my Son. Need help with finding a doctor in the area that will listen and not just prescribe massive doses of addictive or dangerous drugs that cause more problems for health. We're in the Kansas City area.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for being here,
Sylvia

Sorry, but your signature made me laugh. End the discrimination of thinkers??? LOL

They are the new breed? The new leaders?

You know, I'm all for Aspies, being one myself...but this sounds terribly....um....elitist? I don't want to say what I'm really thinking...but really.

I know plenty of thinkers that are NT. I know many natural leaders that are NT. I just think you've gone a bit far is all.

DevonB, you are assuming her signature was meant to apply to people with AS. Maybe it is just meant to mean thinkers in general. Not that all thinkers have AS and all people with AS are thinkers.

What is the agenda of saying one way of thinking is better than another? What is the value in calling yourself disordered in order to get help? What does judgmental thinking help? It doesn't empower you. The intention is not to strengthen you but to make you submissive. Any judgment should be questioned in detail.

In a mad world, only the mad are sane. Kurosawa, Akiro

Sanity is a madness put to good uses; waking life is a dream controlled.
Santayana, George

Our culture is left brained, follow orders and rules, fit into a system. I think the right brain, the seat of the soul which connects you to everything is being activated in the young people right now by changes in their DNA, pattern recognition abilities are heightened. It is very difficult to adjust to this new awareness since it is not respected in our culture. The goal being to fit in rather than respect that awareness as valid since it would change the structure of the systems in place.

I think that toxin complications play a role in AS called so called symptoms. I had all my mercury filling removed and changed my health for the better drastically. The mercury that has been drilled into everyones head by dentists, the mercury in vaccinations, bleach in the water systems and many other toxins, our foods have less nutrition so we're forced to use supplements, wood alcohol in canned food production for sterilization the cans builds up in our bodies as a toxin like isopropal alcohol. Our bodies can't release it. I believe our DNA is not fixed. I believe when an individual is subjected to extreme stresses, the DNA reacts and produces skills that will assist in overcoming the stresses to make the needed changes. If however, everyone is medicated to submit to the disfunctional environment, no change will take place.

I also think the environment in our culture requires a very limited response for acceptance. I think people are expected to behave in a left brain robotic way and this is valued in the schools. I see people being educated to hate their natural awareness. I don't see a climate of awareness that the system is causing many of the problems we face or avenues to change the system to provide what humans need to live a wonderful life. So, I don't see the diagnosis given about AS categories as having anything to do with understanding our relationship as selves in an environment. If the environment is abnormal then the people who don't function in that environment may be the only sane ones.

Just an FYI. Not all Autistics are Right brain dominant. Yes, it seems the majority are, but that falls in line with the general population. 60% of the general population is primarily visual thinkers. The other 40% is divided into the less common thinking styles. Donna Williams discusses this in an article called “Not thinking in pictures”. You can google it if you’re interested. She aggressively rebuttals Temple Grandin’s assumption that all autistics think in pictures. You can find the same information from other sources as well.

I didn’t want to get off topic, but I just wanted to clear that up. I’m an Aspie with a visual processing disorder and I can’t think at all in pictures. In fact my mind is incapable of creating a mental image of anything. The left side of my brain runs the show.
