Hi. My name is Andrew, and I may/may not have Asperger's.
I was diagnosed with ADD, back in 1968, when I was 4 1/2. Apparently, I used to worry my mother when I would run around so much and so fast. I think now that behavior may have been the result of being stressed over recently moving to a new neighborhood, being in a car accident, and my grandfather dying a few months before.
My suspicion that I have Asperger's began when I read the wikipedia entry, which particularly noted difficulty in picking up on social cues and problems with eye contact--two problems that have been banes of my existance. At some point, I plan to get a formal neurological workup, with particular attention to mirror neuron activity or lack thereof (thanks GroovyDruid!).
I have a question for the group: In one of Robert Anton Wilson's novels, Masks of the Illuminati, Albert Einstein--who apparently is suspected of having Asperger's--muses, "Perhaps I was on the wrong planet born?" Was this the inspiration for the name of this website, or was it the shared perception of people with Asperger's, ADD, and/or autism that they were born on the wrong planet? God knows I've felt that way oh, only a million times over the last four decades.

Welcome!

As for the name Wrong Planet, I don't think it's directly related to that book - just the feeling that Aspies are "on the wrong planet" in general (ala Aspergeria style).

Welcome...

I think you have a classic signature there: "Perhaps I was on the wrong planet born- EINSTEIN[sic]"

I'm new as well, but seem to have developed a posting habit already. Hopefully you'll find it comfortable here...

Sounds like AS to me, welcome aboard! (I've ADD too, it's common)

Howdy Wandrew,

I'm sure most of us feel that way and a place like this helps greatly. Just have a look at what's on offer and I'm sure you'll see alot of similarities between other posters and yourself. 8)
