Hi. My name is Andrew, and I may/may not have Asperger's.
I was diagnosed with ADD, back in 1968, when I was 4 1/2. Apparently, I used to worry my mother when I would run around so much and so fast. I think now that behavior may have been the result of being stressed over recently moving to a new neighborhood, being in a car accident, and my grandfather dying a few months before.
My suspicion that I have Asperger's began when I read the wikipedia entry, which particularly noted difficulty in picking up on social cues and problems with eye contact--two problems that have been banes of my existance. At some point, I plan to get a formal neurological workup, with particular attention to mirror neuron activity or lack thereof (thanks GroovyDruid!).
I have a question for the group: In one of Robert Anton Wilson's novels, Masks of the Illuminati, Albert Einstein--who apparently is suspected of having Asperger's--muses, "Perhaps I was on the wrong planet born?" Was this the inspiration for the name of this website, or was it the shared perception of people with Asperger's, ADD, and/or autism that they were born on the wrong planet? God knows I've felt that way oh, only a million times over the last four decades.
