hi my name is Stacie I have a 7 year old with AS! Is anyone here from Louisiana? Well I do not know what all info I should put! I have 5 kids ages from 7 to 15(almost) month old twin girls! Having 5 kids with one with AS is not the best idea LOL well ....

welcome Stacie! feel free to ask questions and we'll do out best to answer them. i recommend that you tell all your children about asperger's and why you think your 7 year old has it. ACCEPTANCE is sooo important. my whole family is still in denial about me being in different. this just puts unnecessary pressure on me. all my life i wish i could talk to my mom and family about being different about other kids. but when i try to start that conversation they either turn very quiet, or deny it. i wish i was told that i had aspergers before 5th grade - that's when i kept stressing about my age, clothes, etc. wondering why was i different from my peers.

Hey Stacieberry! As you can probably tell from the username, I'm the guy who sent you here. There are others from Louisiana, I know of one or two other people here from New Orleans but not many from northern Louisiana.

I am in the New Orleans area, I have looked and not much around here, a few parents that might get together, but not yet.

It is not just our State, the south, Wrong Planet is the only open discussion.

I had to look up Farmersville. Nice watermelons.

My first thought is the wonder I found when I discovered I was not the only one, and Kids Crater might be a place for your 7 year old. Not much chance of meeting other kids, and we do share a neurology.

We are different, with a lot in common.

So how did you come to discover AS?

I actually used to live in Mandeville(sp) Louisiana for two years when I was younger, haven't been back in ages though, it would be good to return. Anyway hello and welcome.
