Hi, I am new here.

I was diagnosed with aspergers just recently. I've had all the symptoms since I was a kid: no eye contact, eccentric interests with intense focus, inability to understand social conversations past their literal meaning, and inability to connect with peers.

I am going to a decent university for linguistics-- nowhere special, but not a school that anyone can get into. I wish that I had the grades to get into somewhere like CMU or MIT. I am able to keep with professors in my fields of interests and am often seen as bright, but I typically get Cs in fields that I am not interested in.

With that said, my interests are and have been for many years: epistemology, philosophy of language, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Beethoven, Erik Satie, The Beatles, Paul McCartney, and Chicago (the city).

I probably the best collection of books about Wittgenstein in my area I also probably have the most extensive collection of Satie's works

What's interesting is that both Satie and Wittgenstein are thought to have had asperger's. I think that's why I always liked them: I related to their eccentricity and sentiment.

Anyways, I'm glad I found a site with people like me. I look forward to posting.

Hey there. You definitely fit the bill; you should feel right at home here. Although you will obviously have problems talking about your interests with people who don't share them, (because they're just like you in that regard ) there are a lot of people here who are quite open and willing to entertain discourse about all manner of things; there's something for everybody.
