It seems the rules (130x130, <=6kB) are being largely ignored.
I think it's time for a review of the rules (6kB might be a little low) and then coded limits instead of the current honour system.

Agree?

I could care less about the filesize, but the dimensions definitely need to be restricted. Quite a few people are stretching the table.

I care about the file size. Particularly since Alex uploaded a 2.5 MEGABYTE animated gif image in contravention of the 6 kilobyte limit. Even on cable it took a long time to download. I'd hate to be trying to access this site on a dialup line.

It may be his site, but when you blow the size limit by 40,000% you're pretty much telling people that the rules just don't matter any more.

Agreed. I was wondering why my connection was choking so badly. (have dsl)

Alex, you have got to be kidding me. Any page with your avatar on dialup is going to take 10+ minutes to view. Even if you know all of your users have high speed connections it's pretty irresponsible to have that big of an avatar and doesn't exactly set a very good example being the site's admin and all.
