Thank you for pointing that out, but can the owner do something about it?
Yes: at one extreme he could change the ad. feed company. I don't know how much control subscribers to these things have over content - I assume it's enough to say "No meat ads on this vegetarian site" for example but I'm not so sure about the content's style of presentation.
Unfortunately noise and flash is part of the current advertising "style". I hate it too; I avoid commercial TV for that reason.

Ah, hmm.

Well, Cornflake, that is something you and I can agree on. I quit watching network TV (save for the news) because of those flashy ads. Yeah, cursed be those ads. Hah!

Oh God yes. It's not just for the annoying intrusiveness, but their mind-numbing stupidity as well - or at least the TV ads: I've never seen the ones here...

Yep the audio ads on here are annoying me too. I hadn't seen Alex ask people not to use ad blocks to be honest. Of course I understand the reasoning but those ads are so intrusive, I have muted the sound on my laptop for the moment

I've managed to block ALL adverts now [IE9 user], even the static ones which didn't bother me.

These are a bloody nightmare.

I use Safari. Can anyone tell me how to block out the adverts just for this site? I'm mainly bothered by the audio if I'm honest.

http://safariadblock.com/

When you install it, there is an option under the 'Customize' tab: Show ads everywhere except for these domains...

STOP WITH THE AUDIO ADVERTS WP!! !! IT'S ANNOYING AND GETS IN THE WAY OF MY MUSIC!! AND YOU HAD TO HIDE THEM RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE TOO, DIDN'T YOU!!

I HAD TO SEARCH ALL OVER THE PLACE TO FIND WHERE THAT BLOODY ANNOYING DETERGENT AD WAS COMING FROM!! !! JUST STOP IT!!
EVEN WHEN I CLICKED ON MUTE, ABOUT 20 SECONDS LATER ANOTHER ADVERT WOULD COME ON WITH SOUND AGAIN!!

IT WON'T STOP!! JUST GET RID OF IT!! !!

(Posted this in GARTS originally but it's better off here).

I haven't heard any audio messages today. I don't quite understand the point of audio and/or video messages anyways. They just make you shut them off and say "well, I definitely won't go see that". Actually if the republicans want to win they should release pro-obama ad's in the form of video and/or audio via facebook and youtube.

Oh, but I came to say here the amount of peoples faces on the banner ad's is actually freaking me out a little, but I didn't feel this required a new post.

I've used Adblock for years; wouldn't be without it. Best add-on ever.

I was about to say the same thing.
I listen to music while browsing the web. So when im on WP, I get adverts playing on top of my music.
