I think it's time I changed the username.

Typically, there isn't an option to change your username...

You'd have to ask an admin, and you'd probably have to have a good reason for them to change your username...

It's in the Terms of Service, if you ever bothered to read them. That doesn't stop people from asking to do so every month or two, though. Anyways, most places on the Internet do not permit you to change your name after you've registered. There are legitimate reasons for not permitting this, and an exception will not be made simply because you do not like your name. I registered here when I was in a cynical mood, hence my name. There have been times when I would not have minded a new username, and there've been times when I regretted my choice of name, but such is life. The closest you could come would be to create a new troll account with your desired new name, but a number of members have attempted this already and it is against the rules here. And your posts are distinctive enough that I would be willing to bet you would be unable to establish a new identity without people realizing who you are.

And I await another page or two of whining about not being able to change usernames before one of our fine mods comes and confirms that it is impossible to do so.

Sorry Orwell... I saw this thread just after you had made your extremely succinct and accurate answer, and thought I'd leave it at that. :)

You add an adjective? New troll account?

I don't know how "troll" goes over in your part of the world but "troll" has negative connotations this side of the Atlantic.

If innocently-intended, just thought I'd point this out to ya. 8)

Fine then, substitute "decoy," "alias," or something along those lines for "troll." Well, it should have negative connotations, multiple accounts are against the rules here. And I'm on the same side of the Atlantic as you, although I do not live in the middle of nowhere like you do.

Most forums you can't change your username. It would be confusing to the other members.

The forums/site has been redesigned / updated since the last post in this thread. How are we on changing usernames now?

You still can not change your username. The best you can do is create a new account & ask a mod to ban this one since having multiple accounts is still against the rules. If banned all your posts will remain & you won't be able to log back in from your current account.

I see two more options:

1. Start your own website under your own rules.

2. Buy this website from Alex and re-make it any way you want.

Good luck.
