There have been a number of incidents that have arisen in the past week; I just wanted to thank all of our members who have been so attentive, and contacted members of the moderation team in regards to the problems. That is how this site should best function, instead of creating threads full of flaming and attacks. Please keep up the good work, and my personal thanks to each of you who have been so vigilant and responsible.

It is, of course, better to stop arguments and fights before they really start and leave grudges, so I too, thank these people.

You're very welcome makuranososhi... I've already reported two cases like a month ago about a spammer and a troll.
At least you mods have taken serious action immediately.

I hate informers. Or at least what they do. Instead of being open and honest, they're sneaky and don't value freedom of the press at all.

I'm not sure what freedom of the press has to do with anything you said. Those people you call informers are individuals who care as passionately about this community as you have claimed to, and want to maintain the site to their standards just as you are here wanting it runs to your own expectations. Personally, I appreciate their efforts greatly and will continue to do so. As for being sneaky, what they're doing is exactly what has been asked of them - nothing more, nothing less.

Going tattletale on someone whom you disagree with and informing moderators when there's a rampant troll or a flood of spam on the loose are two different things in my book. I think it should be obvious when someone is just stirring up trouble, those people I don't have a problem reporting. I agree that reporting people to moderators is overdone, but sometimes it is indeed necessary.

My pleasure keeping the Moderation team and membership informed of what I believe the integral problems with this site are and their origins (in hope that someone with some sense can address them on acknowledging hard truths)

Is that what you are after? Kind of members committed and passionate about this site to tell it like it is and not toe the line pretending the Emperor has clothes?

If so, I am pleased to be of assistmace during this stressful time.

The brown mark? My cooking - it's atrocious. If I ever offer to cook for you, run away as fast as you can and don't look back. Seriously, it is that bad unless a grill or a griddle is involved.

While I disagree with many of the methods being used by others in this process, I appreciate feedback whether complimentary or in complaint... one can learn from all of it. That we disagree on certain points doesn't lessen the validity of your feedback or your opinions in any way; that validity does not necessarily correlate to it being considered accurate, complete or applicable in all cases. Is that a fair assessment, in your estimation?

Yes it makes good sense and during this time you are right in that different people will approach things differently. Kind of different ways to work through this. Change is never fun. Don't act and you condemn yourself to the same mistakes. Force change and something will happen and you HAVE to inevitably deal with the consequences. This process gives resolution. Wanted or not this brings closure.

You have been quite open minded in this and it is good for the forum membership.

A scourer is helpful; using quality cast iron makes a difference, too.

Thank you. I'm almost always willing to listen to someone's opinion... I'm just not going to always agree with it. I think that sort of mentality isn't really so rare (though there are times I confess to wondering), though perhaps others aren't as vocal in their dissent at times. Might be a good subject for me to spend some time observing and comparing.

Since Alex has neglected to post on the subject, after a couple days I will speak on the matter. I have been removed as moderator; which is completely within his rights as site owner and administrator. However, the manner in which it was handled was most unprofessional - no prior warnings, and finding out from a posting in a random thread. I was told I was removed for inappropriate handling of threads. This was surprising to me as I had asked for feedback repeatedly and was told to continue as I had each time. While the thread is used as a reason, it is my opinion that my removal has more to do with my repeated attempts and requests for Alex to do his job - for example, at the time of my dismissal there were 6 private messages sent to him regarding member issues, several of which are things he alone can do as the single active site administrator, all of which were unread and sent over the course of nearly two months. In addition, a list of member concerns, complaints and requests were compiled in three different locations and formats in an effort to find solutions - all absent any feedback, response or action from Alex. In fact, on more than one occasion I told Alex that if he were my employee, I would have fired him by now. I don't pretend to have always been kind or polite, but my comments were always in private, and always directed at his actions and decisions - and not him personally.

While I will miss being able to help others here as I have, not being a moderator means I can now speak my mind instead of minding my accepted role. Such is life; I hope that we as members can act together to preserve the WrongPlanet we know and love.

Your comments concur with those that another former mod mentioned to me in a PM. It sounds very much like Alex has abandoned WP. I just hope he doesn't pull the plug on the site. I guess that while it continues to bring in revenue for him and hopefully pay for itself he will likely let it continue, but other than that it sounds like he has no interest in the site any more.

It is disappointing and frustrating when someone chooses not to live up to their commitments, obligations and responsibilities. After several months of having to not only deal with the fallout of these behaviors but ultimately left covering for the situation... well, as I said elsewhere, if recent decisions and actions are indicative of the course WP is pursuing, it is probably for the best as I would not want my name associated with that future. However, given the rather pervasive nature of certain qualities, I do have grave concerns about the future due to business practices... one can only hope that the site will endure. If it were possible to purchase it outright, it would be something I would have to strongly consider.

One job I would never want. Too tricky for an aspie as honest as me.

As for any here at WP answering to flippant replies, I would advise NOT to, or to think very carefully about the consequences.

I have had a few close calls in my first year here (2007-2008), and was warned, and followed the rules. I also watched others and learned from their mistakes.

Me too, until I became one at another support forum.

But of course, I still try to add abit of spice into it and it seems to work pretty well. But of course you would have to be serious on certain occasions or scenario, but I actually kinda miss it atm (maintenance work been going on for 2 days now).
