I've looked at how far I've come, over the past 7 months, and I'm not exactly a rebel, anymore. I was wondering, if my username could be shortened to Cockney? Never mind. I'll PM Alex.

I don't know about that, but I like Cockney, problem is if you get to change your name everyone
else would want too also, I would shorten mine to Frisk which is what people call me normally.

I would be League if I could shorten mine. I would have been Kit if that name were never taken.

Name changes are not permitted; exceptions have been made in specific instances, but the simple desire for a name change has not been found to be a reasonable justification for doing so.

I think Alex would have to do the work, which begs the question, where do the members want him to spend his time? Working out glitches, keeping things smooth, designing site improvements, clearing spam, etc., or changing names?

I don't think it takes more than a minute to change a name. I have changed mine on forums and it's quick.

i think i'd change mine to "MotherOfGod" or "Father2TheMan" - or maybe "TooterTurtle" or "TennesseeTuxedo" or "Peyronies" or "MixedBisquick" or "Chumley" or "WABAC" or "[content removed - M]" or "ChefBoyardee" or something like that.

I would change mine to China_Shop_Bull, because 'sinsboldly' is too subtle for this crowd.

I haven't ever seen anyone on any forum being capable of changing their username.

I might change mine if I could, but I'm kind of glad we can't. I'd never know who was who. I get confused enough when people change avatars and I haven't had enough time to remember their names. Lost a few people that way already

Don't take this the wrong way, but you most not belong to many forums then. Many forums allow at will user name changes, it depends more on the forum software used than anything else. Now that doesn't change how things work around here, but the way things are here is far from typical for an online forum.

It's not like Aspies are typical forum users. Many of us will take WP business to be serious business.

However, I think that just changing a username is asking for trouble. We had one member here who was opening accounts every time she got bored with a name, or she caused enough trouble in her old one, or trouble that she perceived.

The fact is, simply becoming bored with a name is not a good enough reason. Neither is wanting to duck and cover from a mess you created yourself. The latter, particularly, is edging towards troll and sockpuppet territory. And because searches here tend to be based on name rather than user number (we have had problems with people having an underscore in their titles when checking their posts), I think it may not be compatible with the software. That being said, I'm not an expert on BBS software, and I oppose name changes on principle more than anything else.

Cockneyrebel, you're a long-standing member, and I sympathise, but I don't think we can make an exception. Sorry.
