If so, I can't wait to use it.

The default package of phpBB3 does have a "friend and foe" function. IIRC, the friend function highlights the posts and PM's of members on that list and the foe function does work similar to an ignore function.

We will probably not be be working with the default package of phpBB3 but instead a phpBB3-based custom package, but I would say that you might want to put the idea of an ignore function in the suggestion sticky.

i thought to myself, "what an awesome feature"!

then i realised how impractical that would be for a moderator.

It seems as though a lot of people are eager to put me on Ignore. I was expecting that. I shouldn't take it to heart. We all know how annoying I can be, right?

I know I'm new here, but I don't like this idea of the Ignore function. I think we aspies are already too much ignored out there. We don't need to be ignored even here.

If somehow I discovered that someone had put me in the "ignore list" I'd be very upset.

Overriding all of this is whether Alex decides to enable it - so although it's present in phpBB, we may never see it.

Plus, there is what kobi_galon mentions: it's a different thing altogether if a member discovers they're being deliberately masked out of existence here, of all places. That's gotta hurt...
In any case, it's already possible to ignore posts: you simply skip over them.

It could well be that two members mutually hate each other. In which case it may be beneficial.

I don't really think blindfolds are that useful - they create the false impression that things have gone away.

If it stops them from getting themselves banned over a flame war, I think it is beneficial. ;)
