I just tried to reply to a post in PPR and got a new error message:

Failed sending email :: PHP ::

Impossible to make my reply there. It isn't an email anyway. :?

Edit: Just noticed that my post did get added despite the error message, ended up with a double post there now. Perhaps the 'email' is referring to the fact I'm watching the thread and it failed to send the email notification?

its a good thing that its not sending emails... cause if it was someone would be getting lots of them right now!

** hits submit and sends another failed email **

(ps, I get it on every post I make so far this morning)

(pps, edit: except for this one)

It's annoying. Fix your ancient software, Alex. :)

By the looks of it, no e-mail notifications either
I got this PHP email weird thing earlier, not sure if it's still the case now, but I'm about to find out

^^ I've not yet had a post fail to appear but most (not all) generate this error and it does seem connected more with the sending of an update alert EMail than anything to do with the post itself.

If the error is produced instead of 'view post' after posting, I use the browser's 'back' button to get back to the point immediately before starting my post, and then have the browser do a page refresh - and there's my post in the thread.
Doing this should help avoid making too many double or triple posts!

If anyone has posted to a thread or deliberately activated the 'watch' function then an update alert will always be sent to someone when you make a post - hence, I think, the error referring to EMail.
Meanwhile I've received no update alerts since the server came back up for any thread I've been active on, which seems to tie in with the above error: they're not being sent.

Another thing I have noticed [for me anyway] is on "My Account" page I have no avatar.
"My Profile" shows the avatar, I presume it is showing on threads.

We're still in the process of restoring the server files from backup following yesterday's server issue. This is affecting services like the email server, and some files will not be able to be changed until the restore is complete.
