I noticed the last reply to the thread stating that Alex should keep new people from joining here for a while was deleted.

I thought this was a place to give constructive criticism and not lock topics unless they absolutely have to be.

I'm not leaving, I'm just telling you my honest opinion about this situation and what my thought about this forum is in general.

I like it here, but the situation regarding the disagreement between new members here has really puzzled me.

Could someone please explain it to me?

I'm getting this too, I'm about to recheck that inappropriate ban requests thread.

What is the point of it anyway? I don't know!

All that I can tell you as that I don't know the reasons for it. The thread was put in the junkheap, and it's not clear from the context why. I figure that only one of the more experienced mods, or alex, did so.

Well, Alex is... Alex, as I've stated before.

Given the whole secrecy about s**t, I'll probably end up de-modded just for giving my views. I just hope I don't get banned for it. I like this site, but don't really care if I'm a mod.

Best policy to have. Some of the things that go on "in the background" can get a bit concerning and/or unnerving at times. If more than a couple people speak out about it, it will be impossible to treat the situation as others have been treated. People are going to notice if a bunch of users are banned / de-modded at the same time, and won't have any choice but to wonder why and take note of it.

Hah, if I get banned for saying this and my post isn't deleted, nice knowing you guys.

I understand that, but I have trouble figuring out when and when not to chime into those things.

If you have an opinion on this, now seems like a good time to me, but that is merely my opinion, not necessarily the right choice.

I disagree strongly. I found that the best sites that I've seen have a few rules, which are VERY well known and enforced strictly. That way, the community as a whole can discuss and understand. This all feels more like some bloated government trying to hide things from it's citizens.

That's not what I'm saying. Things have happened, specifically post deletions, as mentioned in this thread. These things, as far as I know, are not the actions of mods. From what I understand many of the mods are just as confused by what's going on as the "normal users."

This is a problem. This problem should be brought up. If anyone else has a problem with it, they, too, should speak up.

I'm not saying the legitimate regulation has been a problem. Nor am I saying any of the mods seem to be a problem, they all seem interested in making sure the site runs smoothly and fairly.

Specifically, we should be able to discuss and understand this kind of problem just as we discuss and work towards understanding every other subject brought up on this site.

Sorry, I misread your post. I thought you were advocating secrecy and attacking it at the same time. Got caught on the first part. I think that we agree that openess is the best policy. BUT, this is a privately owned site, and NOT a democracy. Still, the hand that guides should be a gentle one, wherever possible.

Right. Heavy-handed tactics involving secrecy could also run counter to the site's "aim" of helping people. I have no problem with it being privately owned / operated. I do have a problem if this leads to people leaving worse off than before they came here, for reasons out of their control.

It only makes sense that the more people that are on here the more opinions will be brought up, and possibly disagreed upon. I dont think its fair that new people wouldnt be able to join, much less because some people thought the n00bs were too disagreeable. I think people should just learn to not post up some stuff that is very sensitive to them, or just accept that there are gonna be many people who dont agree with them. Ive noticed some members get very upset about opinions theyve been receiving...Spacecase rings a bell, but if you cant tolerate what some people think about what you say in a forum where youlle never meet these people, than maybe you have bigger selfesteem/acceptance issues that should be worked on. I understand some people come here for consolation, advice, and support, but like I said, the more people the more opinions will be given. Some very well thought out, some just thrown out, and with most people having problems dealing with their own issues(much due to AS), of course some of these people wont have a good idea on how to help others in their difficulties. Receiving some bad opinions only comes with the territory on any forum, and a place like this, much more so.
