There is no such thing. I went into the chatroom yesterday afternoon and I made a protest against the new bot, trebot, which replaced databot after the tragic death of trelone, the thing is databot was trelone's bot, not trebot and I think trebot is a complete insult to the memory of trelone, someone who suffered greatly at the hands of a stone hearted world. databot would have stood as a testiment to our friend trelone, but trebot just sounds silly and insults his memory. And of course as per usual the facist ops muted me and banned me. No wonder people using the irc chat go and do stupid things to themselves if all they get is banned and muted. Plus java client users have now been prevented from joining other wp channels from here, which is wrong and unfair. I am not going to apologise for the things I said in the chat and my being banned just proves that free speech is not welcome here. There are far worse people on that chat than me, including those who are allowd to discuss their anti American and anti Semitic beleifs with no quarms from the ops.

I've never been in the chat area, because the Forums suit me just fine. The Chat room has become to be known as the dark side of WP, that part of the school you never hang around because it's where the drug addicts go. I imagine it'd be hard for alex or anyone else to mod there, as it's active 24-7. I'll never go there, at any stage unless forced to.

Having an opinion isn't considered bad there. How you express your opinion can be the issue. While I didn't witness it personally, that would be my guess.

It's the reason wp is no longer a good place to come for help.

No longer? It's been pretty helpful to me, and still is, and I've been around for almost as long as you have... care to discuss the matter?

I have been no angel in the chat, but as soon as I started to talk about trebot I was called a disgrace to humanity....

By everyone? Unanimously? I doubt it. You even admitted that you weren't "perfect," so why expect others to be? The IRC channel gets more heated, because people can't simply walk away for a bit and calm down. It is live communication, and as such there's going to be times where people butt heads.

As for you getting muted / banned, again, I didn't witness it, so I can't comment on any aspect of that, but I'm still going with my initial guess.

Wait, I don't quite fully understand your opinion. No, you made it pretty clear already. Now you're just ranting. Since you are inherently biased, it isn't all that easy to take what you say as a fair account. Again, even the ops are only human, and can overreact at times. Kind of like what you are doing now.

I'm glad you see the infringment of free speech as a over reaction.

The IRC channel isn't a "free country." Spin it as you will, you are simply ranting about an "injustice" against you. If you handled yourself there as you are now, I'm not as surprised that action was taken. Was the action taken a bit much? Possibly. I'm pretty sure you didn't help matters though.

You can't have free speech on a forum. It clashes with the rules. This is not the real world.

This is about the chatroom, not the forum.

And how are the two all that different in this respect?

The mods in the chat are baised and pick favorites.

I can't remember, but I'm pretty sure you whined about this already.

I'm going to let you make a big fuss about this without further "interference," it seems to be a waste of time.
