Well the hackers love CloudFlare anyway. I wonder why? :chin:

I have big problems with captcha tests. During the las few days, I noticed I was checked many times with captcha tests. And even though I copy the proposed texts carefully, half of the time it does not work. There seems to be a problem with either the site or the captcha software. Either the captcha does not work ; either, if it does, the post is not published for varied reasons.

For a post on "Questions about you", I had to submit the post TWELVE times!! !! !! That, to me, seems not normal.

This captcha thing is ridiculous. I just redirect myself without typing anything in to the home page. I am not typing anything in and coming back the next day to find "password not accepted" on my account.

Well for the last three hours I have been trying to respond to a post on another thread, and it won't let me. Hours of filling our CAPTCHA for nothing. :(

I got my first one a couple of days ago, and now I'm seeing them pretty frequently. I haven't outright been prevented from posting or lost any posts, but it certainly is irritating.

I left the site for a day due to the annoyance they were causing me. The Captcha's are still interfering with my posts and making it more difficult to administer the site and do moderator duties, but I'm posting a lot less due to the extra hassle of wading through endless captchas. I can see this is going to drive a lot of members away or make them reluctant to post. Way to go CloudFlare - cure the disease by killing the patient.

TallyMan is not the only one! I also refrained from posting many messages due to the malfunctioning of the captcha. If this keeps on, many members will simply go away.

... and still no response from Alex. Both me and Cornflake have attempted to contact him. I guess a number of other members have tried too and likely put in various comments in the Captcha window itself for message to site owner.

So have I... I wonder if the comments get filtered for swearing?

I can think of only one solution at the moment...

E-mail Alex. All of us who are having troubles with the captchas. Put captcha and wp it somewhere in the subject line so even if he doesn't read them he'll know what they are all about. This is not a minor issue, it is annoying a lot of users and if it keeps going on it will drive them away, as Tallyman said. Some have already stated they will stop coming to WP until that problem is solved. I don't know id this counts as spamming, but I believe it doesn't; in the US the process of writing letters to one's representative or government is mentioned often enough for me to notice, and perhaps a high volume of letters will force him to take action sooner than he otherwise would, which could perfectly be way too late. He's late already.

I will begin writing a letter now.

I'm angry now. I just spent HALF AN HOUR creating a thread with an exceptionally long opening post. I tried to post the thread, and I was asked to fill in a captcha. Then my browser crashed, and the post which took half an hour and quite a bit of research to write was lost. If I weren't redirected to the f***ing CloudFlare page, the thread would've been posted. f**k this. I won't be posting here again until this utter mess is sorted out.

Yes, that sucks! I've had that happen in the past, but there is a browser extension called "Lazarus" that will save your form data (post text, etc.) and allow you to recover it after a browser crash or whatever.

I've written a little guide that mentions it (among other things): https://www.wrongplanet.net/postp5515926.html

This won't stop the CAPTCHAs, but it might reduce their impact somewhat. Oh, and I got CAPTCHAs every time I edited that post. One more reason why the guide itself had to be hosted externally - no way was I going to edit it properly, solving 2-3 CAPTCHAs per preview!

While this may sound like a great idea it can be compared to harassing someone and you may have issues with wp/the law if you choose to go this way.

Not saying I dont share your frustration, just advising everyone to be careful on what they are getting into.

I d suggest those of us who have issues could go to a temporary forum and say so in our signatures et all, this forum would hopefully be managed more closely but Im not sure if the idea will catch on

I've been getting them every time too! Never before about 2 days ago, every single time I try to do anything now. Like many others, I'd say that if it doesn't get sorted, I just won't really come back.....

Alex has been made aware of the situation, so the ball is in his court now. In the meantime I'm spending more time exploring and discovering other interesting Internet forums and spending less time here.

I've already written an email to Alex. It had three paragraphs, was clear, to the best of my english abilities, and I explained him what was happening and how it affected us and to please come. If anyone follows my example it should be like that, polite and thoughtful, I don't believe there is anything wrong with that. I can see the problem with mindless, destructive spam though, that should be avoided. I've been discussing this with some depth with Cornflake, ask him to show you if you wish, you also should know.
Jumping ship and going to another forum is an option, too. Only the future will tell.
