No More Frivolous Subforum Requests, Please

The moderators can either take the requests you place in this forum seriously, or not. You can't say that you put two requests in here that were serious and you wanted answers, and two that were just to be silly. Everyone's viewpoint is different, and the moderators are Aspie just like you.

Why should Asperger's syndrome be a problem? Where we lack intuitive understanding of complex situations we can make up for in analytical ability.

Perhaps mine is different from yours. Perhaps Autism is some kind of spectrum disorder where we are not all alike. I am telling you how I see things. If you continue to post frivolous requests in this location I will continue to discount everything you write as frivolous.

Well, seems to me, that frivolous requests for subforums aren't going to result in anyone needing to take the time to create them. It's the legitimate, non-frivolous requests that will sometimes result in someone taking the time to create a new forum.

I still think a place to discuss spirituality (and such) would be a very good idea. PPR is not well-suited to such discussions.

Because the general standard of intelligence, in my personal experience at least, is low.

I think that the issue isn't really whether people are truly intelligent or not, but whether they choose to utilize the supercomputer that is in their heads or not. Having conditioning to think in terms of some people being smarter than others, I think it tends to form an attitude of laziness in many which is interpreted as a lack of intelligence instead of a lack of the utilization of their brains. If more people just tried I would be willing to bet that the general standard would be greater than it currently appears to be.

But that's the point. Most don't try. It's like Scott Adams said. The vast majority of humanity can be divided into three categories: stupid, selfish, or horny.

We implement new forums every other week. We just hate men. How did you ever see through our secret web of deception and reverse misogyny? We'll have to get our decoder rings recalibrated. Dang!!

Here's my take on things, for what it's worth.

There are varying levels of dissatisfaction that are expressing themselves on the board, in different ways.

Some are upset that LGBT has been created. Others are upset that there is no men's forum. Some (including me) are upset about issues of moderator selection. Others are upset about issues of moderator conduct and consistency.

Different people express those concerns in different ways, and one of those ways is facetiousness. I don't think it's fair to dismiss a call for a "left handed gingers" forum as merely silly--it is a different facet of a live issue within the group.

So what's the common theme? I think it boils down to one word:

Transparency

Now there is no legal compulsion that can force Alex to behave in a transparent manner--but I do think that there are enough threads percolating away (and others locked from further percolation) to suggest that there is a core group for whom these issues are a matter of concern.

How many of us post daily (or at least five times a week or more)? Of these how many are participating to some degree in these discussions? What is the overall participation on the board in the last, say, four weeks of those of us who are weighing in on these questions? I think a little bit of number crunching might demonstrate that it's a pretty focussed core who are going to bat on these questions.
