I don't think this is such a black and white issue. I mean, don't men kind of dominate L&D already?

I'm curious what kinds of male issues you would like to discuss that cannot go elsewhere.

The L&D argument is a lost one.

I read it, but I see no reason why any of those things can't go elsewhere.

But, I feel the same way about the women's forum. *shrug*

What do you think will happen if you create a thread on one of these topics and stick it in the General forum? The mods won't stop women from reading or posting in there, so if you want to make a thread on male beauty products you can do so right now in General and it won't really be any different than if you put it in a male forum.

It's not one thread, Midlife. It's a multitude of threads => demand for new forum.

Or else why not say the same thing to the women? Actually, why not remove the forum for women? There's no need for it, it seems.

As I keep saying, you guys are arguing with an empty room. The only person who can create a new forum doesn't read the board. I am just curious to hear what you feel you are missing out on at the moment. What the difference will be? This is a personal curiosity and has nothing to do with my moderation duties. I just want to hear a new argument other than imagined sexual bias.

No, you tend to disregard my opinion and dismiss me with patronizing language and attitude. Then you attempt to direct me on what to do in an open forum when you lack the authority to do so. Is this how women will be treated in this Men's Forum of yours? Is this how women's voices will be counted?

I fail to see how anyone but you and maybe a minor few (to be generous) actually want this men's forum. MCalavera, who asked me to have sex with him after I'm dead because I disagreed with him on a topic, isn't the best of company. This seems like men simply want a place where they can claim freedom to be misogynistic and disrespectful toward women because it says "Men" on the proverbial door.

I would say the sexual bias is implicit.

I'm sure you've already seen my arguments.

A long time ago, I was in favor of this. Now I'm not.

1. The women's forum itself is dangerous because the name implies that it's restricted when there is really no security on it.
2. Men read and post in there all the time - and even if they couldn't they could set up a fake female account and do it.
3. Females tend to think that some subjects are taboo but men (generally) are more open and likely to "blurt it out" anywhere.

Personally I don't see a real need for any forums restricted to gender or other discriminatory groupings unless they are backed by adequate security.

How can women feel any safer posting personal stuff in there? I'm sure they just PM each other when they need to talk about proper girl things.

I doubt it'll happen ever, cause of what Alex has said. So its probably best to just ignore the double standards on WP, its a waste of energy worrying about it. I did like Jedi's point that "trans" people get a forum before men, thats pretty laughable. But like I said, its not worth your time caring, there's plenty of other things to concentrate on.

You're correct that it'll never happen. But it's always fun to point out the double standards going on here.

There's not enough hours in the day for that Maybe the love and dating forum should be changed to "men's love and dating forum" cause apparently its ours anyway. You're right, it can be fun, but when naive people can't see the double stanards and start having a go at you for pointing them out, it stops being fun.
