If the last post was in 1947, I don't see why not if it was light hearted, but that's just my opinion.
I'm sure that if it was so much of an issue to bump something, a moderator would then lock it at their discretion.

What's the rationale for not bumping old threads even if previous members are long gone. I've noticed that most forums in general don't allow or discourage this but I don't know why?

Mainly because the members are not around to respond and/or the conversation may be irrelevant.

or the issue had been resolved or long over with. Or the drama had been over with so no need to bump it and have it start again because newer members get heated up with the old responses and respond to them.
