There is - you can click a button to hear an audio recording instead.

And what do you do if you are hard of hearing too? The recordings are useless to me

Aaahhh! So annoying.....hate captchas. Hopefully the glitch (& hope it's a glitch) will be resolved soon).

I.really.am.autistic. And.can.post.if.I.want.to.

Fnord, I got an off-colour captcha too. Wonder if we could make our own captchas?

I thought I had been the only one to get them. Especially after i updated a program or two on my computer, which I thought was the cause.

Now I know it isn't.

Ia! Ia! Just don't think that spelling it right will save you when the stars come right.

If you're like me, you cry in frustration and play a video game instead. I am not hard of hearing but I do have audio processing issues, so it's an even bet whether I'll understand the playback.

Fnord, you should've taken a screenshot.

Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

Edit: the browser's spellchecker actually recognizes "Cthulhu."

I have been away from the forums because of the CAPTCHA. I had no way to know if it was legit or not. No warning was given.

Have you ever actually listened to the audio version? It's actually worse than the visual one. I literally cannot make out a single letter. At least with the visual ones I can tell what most of the letters are.

I hate captcha. I can almost never see what I am supposed to see. I almost never "get through" on the first attempt.

I have seen other ones where you have to answer a simple question that are a lot easier for me to use. I get wanting to keep the spambots out, but I don't know who captcha was made for....someone with superhuman visual processing capabilities, apparently.

I understand the need to fight spam/bots. I'm not sure if the system is malfunctioning, or if this is the "new normal".

I think it's causing a great deal of discomfort across the board for many WPers.

I'm not sure what additional steps, if any, should be taken.

I'm also getting tired of the stupid captchas.

Captcha is like getting a TSA pat-down before you can even ask a question.

Yes, I have, when i couldn't decipher the letters. I was able to understand the recording and type the correct answer.

No, someone with typical visual processing capabilities, but many of us don't have that.

I am also REALLY annoyed by the captchas--I can't figure out the twisted letters and because of auditory problems, I can't figure out the audio files either. This is a vote to GET RID OF THEM.

I'm not hard of hearing but I couldn't make sense of what was said at all. And some of the letters are really hard to interpret. I hate that captcha thing, I've been getting it a lot over the last two months, even without images, links or bad words.
It's very annoying and more so as some of the types of letters are very hard to read. Not all, but some.
Very annoying!
