Topics involving ignorance are, for the most part, covered in every forum already on this website.

true but i still think there should be a central place for it or a place for nts ask questions or something similar to general autism discussion but like a faq for specific questions regarding autism with no shame or retaliation exuding trolls and ablists who are clearly not open minded .you know to help encourage autism acceptence.

There is already an entire website devoted to that. It's called Autism Speaks.

I knew what you meant right away for some reason.

It would probably be a topic for you to talk about your special interests without feeling guilty or worried that you might be boring everybody. You can write monologues as much as you like and let it all off your chest, and if other people want to read it they can, and if they don't then nobody is telling them they've got to. You never know, you might find a few members here that share the same special interest as you. Then life would not be boring any more.....

EDIT: I didn't mean ''you'' as in anyone personally here, I was just speaking in second person, in case someone might have thought I was aiming it at them individually.

I rarely use the interest forums. If I wanted to talk about my special interest, I'd go to a forum specifically for it.

I think there should be a financial section. Aspies often have smaller incomes that they need to make the most of. (whether it's due to struggles getting a job, keeping a job, not being able to get a job that pays well or being on gov assistance) Even if an aspie has a good income he/she may not be able to manage money. Financial matters are confusing and there is often lots of fine print. There are salesmen that manipulate, deals that are too good to be true and even flat out scams.

It might be nice to have a few forums dedicated just to certain countries too; for example, an American forum, an Australian forum, a Chinese, and so forth. Not for the sake of categorising, and sectioning off the entire site, as it would be nice to continue talking to everyone. More so that we can find others in are general areas.

Also, it would be nice to add 'psychology' to the interests area. I myself, as well as a few others I've noticed, have an interest in the topic. While there are several threads discussing similar topics to this, I feel this may promote a more analytical discussion, as opposed to an emotional personal response.

I've been coming to WP for a good couple of years now and I've not even made my way round all the forums that we already have.

I couldn't even begin to think up a new one.

I've only just discovered the haven I quite like it in there.

I think music should have its own separate subforum. ;) Also, even though I can sort of see how food and sports overlap (since they are both related to fitness), I still think that they're distinctive enough to have their own subforums.

I'm generally sceptical about having more sub-forums on WP. Several people already have a hard time navigating the current forum.

A "Special Interest/Hobbies" sub-forum sounds like a good idea to me, though. Three obvious threads in such a sub-forum quickly come to mind: Guns, My Little Pony and Otaku. Creating sub-forums for each special interest would probably fragment the site into oblivion, however, as special interests here have a tendency to be quite narrow.

Some of the proposed sub-forums (Social Studies, History, Economics, Psychology) would likely also suffer from PPR magnetism: The threads would have a high risk of becoming politicized due to the subject matter, thus requiring them to be moved to The Fight Cage From The Pits of Hell Formerly Known As Beirut quite frequently.

i would add a love&dating subforum for homosexual love&dating. the love&dating section as it is now is extremely heterosexual. i know there is no homophobia but i still don't feel comfortable posting there.

I wonder if having a sub-forum for individuals who identify as having more "severe" [whatever those individuals decide that to mean] form of autism or neurodiversity would reduce some of the tension present in the General Autism forum [Asperger vs. Autism, HFA vs. LFA, ect.]. If such individuals would prefer, perhaps a feature could be added that makes the sub-forum only accessible to those who have "Other autism spectrum disorder" under "Diagnosis" in the profile [or, while I'm hypothetically re-vamping the site here, something along the lines of "Classic Autism," "PDD-NOS (moderate or severe)," or "Autism Spectrum Disorder, Axis (2 or 3)"]. The issue with this, however, is that this may inhibit discussion between well-intentioned, non-malicious individuals. Another hostility-reducing option, if one is needed, is to have an addition Terms of Service for this specific form that emphasizes the intolerance of malicious behavior [and perhaps one that limits or forbades any discussion of superiority or "Why we're not like them"] that members would also have to agree to before posting in this forum (again, programming allowing).
[TL;DR- LFA/Moderate and Severe Autism Subforum ?? ]

On a similar vein, I wonder if the General Autism forum should be split into sections such as "Diagnosis Questions" ["Do I/insert person here have autism/Aspergers?", "What will the assessment be like?", "Should I get a diagnosis?", "I finally got a diagnosis!", "Why my diagnosis/lack thereof is wrong," ect], "Theories" ["New study shows link between autism and ____", anything to do with vaccines and autism, "Environmental influences on autism," "Autistics are aliens/Starseeds/A New Evolution/Neanderthals/Part Dolphin, ect.], "Treatments" ["Try this diet!", "Does therapy really work?" "How to stop stimming/being so blunt/taking things literally," ect.], "Assessments" ["AS Quiz/AQ Quiz/EQ/IQ/Psychopathy score"], "Health" (well, this would be more of its own subforum than a subforum based off of General Autism Discussion), and...well, okay, I still see the need for a forum in which autism in general can be discussed ["Misc. Autism Discussion?"].

...there's a reason I don't run forums.

I would advocate for that.

I would divide love and dating forum into relationship and dating,
and Single forum. The Relationship/dating forum would be for
people who are in a relationship,or are dating.

the single forum:would be for people looking for a relationship,
where they can talk about their lack of success,a place to vent.
People formely in Relationship.
