I like the homepage layout.

I dislike all the white space and light background colors -- it's (literally) painfully bright.

I miss the greater visual distinction between buttons at the bottom of posts (the more dramatically differing sizes and the little picture of a person on the "profile" button...I register the words last). I really like that there is a color distinction between the "post reply" and "new topic" buttons -- is there any way to add some more non-textual visual distinction like that to the four buttons on the bottom left of each post or would it detract too much from the streamlined look?

Also, will there still be edit/quote/delete buttons? What will they look like and will they have non-textual visual features that distinguish one from the other like they do now?

It's very bright. I'd probably try getting something in all that white space so it doesn't hurt our eyes. (Well, if you use the computer in the dark like me anyways.)

Other than that, it's a nice little face lift. Still a little plain. Maybe adding a little texture to the post boxes or the background would look a little better.

I like the design. Very clean and easy-to-read.

I like it! When does it go into production?

I think it looks good! A little bright, but it's a lot easier to read. :)

What's "created by me" all about?

It's a lot more white than I prefer but it isn't making my eyes bleed like too much white usually does. An off-white towards really pale grey would be a good background choice too.

Can you show us what the "post reply" page looks like if possible? And will the link to forums be via "community" up the top of the page or will we have to dig around to get there?

I hated the layout and then I saw the forum section. I also like the report button. It makes it a lot easier for members and new ones too and for people who can't keep up with who the mods are. Now I am not sure how I feel about the layout.

What Stargazer43 said, and as others said I also agree that the bright white is too bright. The soft light blues and greens of the current layout are very soothing to the eyes. The new color scheme may be easier to read, but make it more off-white rather than bright please. Maybe subtly shade the white to very pale light blue and light green?

It is very encouraging to see work being done on the site. More than the appearance though, the functionality is the most important thing to keep up. Kudos to you for all you do, Alex.

It will time to get used to it, but it does look clean.
Does the new look come with new software? Now THAT I would be really interested in.

:thumleft: I like it, but do agree that the emoticons should be kept handy. I'm guessing that fixing the software kinks is part of the new facelift, too. The new category breakdown on top is good--it emphasizes the informative aspects of the website much more.

Yes, please more back ground color, and less white.

Actually the current site design is fine. It's the software that needs to be updated.

I like the look better than this look.

The only thing I don't like is I'm afraid the traffic going to the forums, which make this site so great, will slow down because it seems as if it is hidden more than it is now. I did not see a button for forums.

If the community button gets you there... I guess that's fine, but I would expect you to get less traffic flowing towards the forums.

WAY too much white. The current design is too bright as it is. Someone else mentioned a "nite mode". If that were in place as a setting to have all the time, that would be great.

I will miss the alternating colors of the forum posts. That helped me a lot.

The ads between the sub-forums are gonna cause a lot of accidental clicking. That gets old.
