I would like to continue this fourm, I am not much one for coffee shops and pubs but am always glad to be in the company of people generous with their time.

I wandered in here looking to find some where to post an Dissociate Identity Disorder and
Aperger's Syndrome thread. I have been reading some documention and wanted to see if anyone else on this website can relate.

Being a Senior, or close to it, and looking for a place to discuss things on a slower pace, I like it here.

Merle

PS I can see why 'Alex' (whom I don't know at ALL) doesn't want a parents forum on WP. I have seen what a contentious group THEY are on other autism fourms, and parents of children UNDER 3 are the worst!

The Dino-Aspie Cafe does not exist and never did.

Being sixty I should be among the grownups, but a lot of what they talk about I never experienced.

I visited another site that does not exist and soon left. It seems the adult section was in the X-Rated.

Other's seem interesting until they start gathering for their cult meeting.

WP is a newspaper, I do like the depth of weeklies and monthlies, and thinking of something later would like to find it again. I do not know if that could work in this format.

I have been putting in some posts on how to write. I would like to, was common with the young, and not being English Majors, but budding storytellers, they do not cite my obvious errors, but thank me for the insight of someone who has writtten a lot, not lightly studied what a few others wrote, to get a worthless degree, and spend their life looking to annoy people over commas!

Costume, model making, the mental and paper parts of the invention process, drawing lessons are being requested, introduction to animation, and I have done some on the process of turning a story into a series of images, story boarding. I have seen some great talent pass through, they post a bit, but not finding the food for their obsession, move on.

Aspie central to me is the early teen years. squire has his book published and for sale on the web, and he just did a TV interview. This is big, but nothing here, I will have to track him down and ask.

I did some of my best work at that age. Those were not good times for me, but the rest of my life was build on the remains of my shattered dreams. It is contact with what little was good about my childhood.

There is more here from so called adults about nipple piercing than education.

Dinos are a rebellious lot, we had to be to survive.

Then comes an era of psychobabbling cripples with complex and scientific excuses.

That is a load of crap, if you want a second opinion ask nutbag.

Then comes the pill heads, always the garbage of the drug culture. You medicated your problem, and mind, out of existance, and made it everyone else's problem, because you are in treatment, so you can do
anything, except make sense.

Dinos and the kiddies have a lot in common, we both look at the people in the middle with raised eyebrows.

We also believe in a skill based culture, being ourselves, and solving our own problems.

As far as problem solving skills go, a guy in college posted that he was getting by, would register for the next symester, but could not get around to cleaning his apartment. The next three post labeled him ADD HDAD, DDBA, DBA, DOA, and another half dozen, and all were pushing pills, another half dozen. He replied he would rather be insane than a pill head. I posted that we call that college life, no Mom to make you, live as you like, and someday find your own standards.

Defineing someone as mentally ill for not cleaning their apartment is practicing a medical speciality without training or licensing. It is also rude and offensive.

Pushing pills is also out of line. If they will do it here, they might start giving them out to the neighbor kids.
Since many drugs can be bought on the internet, this is advice, not information.

TheMachine1 gives out very good information about drugs, and about the conditions they are used for, but would never suggest from a post what a person's mind was like, or what drugs they should take. It is a last step when all other therapies have failed, when done by compenent medical professionals.

TheMachine1 helps people who have got there understand the drug, how it affects over time, side effects, so they are not mistaken for a condition, and after effects. That is useful and helpful information. Other conditions do exist, they are not AS.

A new kid here could get the impression that while things seem fine now, in the future you will feed the psychobabblers, support the drug companies, and develop a dozen alphabet combinations, each which will take more drugs, and more piercings.

WP is about AS, for which there is no drug. The kiddies report that extra help with their school work, a warning notice when something is going to happen, in an hour we are going to.. Fairly covers their problems.

We cannot have an adult section till we get some adults.

I'd be in favour of a separate section for more mature/older people.

Yeah, let's lock all the old fogies away. Oh wait, I've only got a little bit
longer. I don't wanna be forced to play with mature people.

Oh FFS!!* Sorry Calandale, nothing personal against your post, I like your humour, but I've been banging on here, pointlessly as it happens, suggesting for many months three new forums, or at least, someone to consider three new forums and nobody giving a flying you-know-what...or will even speak to me about them, or even acknowledge that this particular mouse in the corner has uttered a squeak!

What Paolo was suggesting was a slower-paced forum, where topics are slower moving and subjects gone into with more depth. Please read the link to the original idea (which was formulated in 1922 and is still no nearer becoming a reality that time travel) Age is not primarily the issue. Anyone who would enjoy this kind of discussion would be very welcome. I hate the idea of 'exclusive clubs' anyway and certainly wouldn't support the idea of one.

(Just as a pointless exercise in typing, and for the record, which nobody reads, the first forum I suggested was an obsessions one. It had a lot of support. It didn't happen. Then there was this one, it has support, it won't happen. Then I posted a couple of posts to try to help those members who were trying to get an Aspie Parents Forum, it didn't happen. Why I waste my frickin dwindling supply of brain cells thinking up ideas that may improve WP (may not, but we'll never know, will we?) is beyond me. The only time anyone bothers around here is if you use a bad word or spam. I'm extremely pissed off. I'm very seriously wholeheartedly pissed off. Totally. End of rant. Goodnight).

*Please ban me. I'm serious.

Actually, it's a good idea. The only problem - and one I've been harping on - is that the front page is too cluttered with sub-forums as it is. I'm not familiar with this particular BBS, but most are capable of being set up as hierarchical structures, so that the major categories could appear on the front page. If the layout was done correctly, people would stay out of categories which don't interest them. The adult section is mainly just a morass of risque threads. But, how do you propose to keep a section from becoming as quick paced as the rest of the threads are? The Dino-aspie thread manages this, by being imposing, but I don't know that all issues facing those of us over a certain age would really move in as stately a manner as you desire. It's almost antithetical to the way in which forums operate.

Yeah. I agree, and I don't know if I will ever be that. My AS sponsor calls me 'mature' in thought. being 56 I remember walking down the hall at work, wondeing "humm. . wonder when I will start being an 'adult'??" then I cracked me up laughing cause I realized 'NO TIME SOON!"

PS lots of adults get angry with me because I will not act like an adult and it embarasses/confuses/and generally ticks them off. Like they leaned into smell a flower and it smells like vegetable soup, instead

We could just redefine the term.

I still can't think of myself as a man though. I don't know what I am, but adult just doesn't fit.

There are a lot of posts where I feel like an outlander. I think the whole alternative vocabulary might be age-related. Whatever it is, I have no idea what they're saying. I've turned into my mother. :? Don't get me wrong, I'm not avoiding anybody. And I would be miffed if somebody stuck me in an old folks corner and told me to stay there. I've learned a lot from Squier and them other young'uns, also they're fun, when I can figure out what we're saying. It might be nice, though, from time to time, to hang out with people who share my peculiar squinty backwards look at the 20th century.

I think it would naturally move a lot slower than other threads because there would be fewer people posting.

The Dino-aspie thread, I'm glad you brought that up :) I don't know if I am the only person here who stands outside and stares in through the misted-up window, with my nose pressed against the glass, wondering how everyone can follow what's going on without the structure of individual threads? Tried it but couldn't manage it. Pity. It looks like an interesting place, with interesting peeps....anyway the Senior's Forum, or whatever it's called in theory, how about "The Pie in the Sky" Forum lol, it certainly wouldn't replace the Dino cafe but it would be an alternative place to go.Thinking of people on the spectrum, one of our qualities is the fact that some of us do like to go into things very deeply. Those members have nowhere to post, which seems a great pity. I doubt if I'd use the Senior's Forum much, myself, I'm not particularly 'academic' (for want of a better word) but there are members here who are, and why can't their needs be met too?

(Edited for spelling, lapses of concentration, etc. nicotine withdrawal is a terrible thing! lol)

Yeah, I've been waiting for 'adulthood' to arrive too, lol. I keep thinking I'll wake up one day and the transformation will happen overnight and I'll be a "proper grown up". I don't know if I'd like it really though. I love to play with the kids too much, most of the time.

Maybe. There are a lot of us fogies though who are incessant spammers.

Yeah. But I have trouble with the whole cafe setting too - and the posts that are too long for my poor attention span to handle. I peek in every now and again, but I can't really follow it at all.

Peeps? There are other birdies in there? I NEVER see them.

I've been getting the urge to spam lately  Trying to resist it.

Oh there's an easy cure for the problem of spamming in the Pie in the Sky forum. Just give me a gun, lol. No, it might get spammed to start with but hopefully people would leave it alone once they got that out of their system. It could just be deleted, like it is when it's posted anywhere else at WP, and The Haven, for example, rarely gets spammed.

Well, I'm talking a different definition of spam - the joking play, the short posts. All of which is rather natural for some of us. Pure spam will be squished - but this stuff is the nature of this forum, except for in the cafe (and I think that they frown on me when I chirp in, and steal a crumb). I was assuming that you were hoping for that kind of ponderous discussion, when you mentioned a slower pace. Staying out of one thread is easy, as there are so many long-winded speeches there that they overwhelm even my prodigious spamming talents. But, a whole board would be unable to stand before me and my kindred: aged yet still childish. There are far fewer posters in the other age-relative sections, but they sometimes seem to move at a good pace.

Any reason for not just carving some space out of the adult section? Seems the easiest answer without needing support.
