the service that provides the captchas is cloudflare, which, contrary to what some people might think is not an anti-spambot measure (since it has been clearly proven to fail in that regard) but a content delivery network that speeds up the delivery of web content, a "reverse proxy". lots of sites use it. it does feature a security "layer" that can be toggled but i'm not sure if the captchas have anything to do with that...
i for one, am thankful that i'm no longer greeted with a browser scan every time i log on. anyone remember that? i found that to be annoying too.
