You have my commiserations. Oh well, you'll probably soon get used to doing a quick CTRL-A and CTRL-C as insurance before hitting the Submit button. Time was when it was thought to only attack veteran members who had notched up thousands of posts in the past.
Did you have any quotes in your intended message, or was it purely text?

TD, you'll notice I just quoted you and had to change quite a bit of your punctuation in another thread. Guess why?

Er.....now let me think.......could it be....the capcha monster?
I found your quote, and checked it as carefully as I could for the changes you had to make. Capcha doesn't like brackets, does he? Neither round nor square. Nor does he like the "i" in "BS." Yet he only dislikes those things within a quotation, or so it seems. :? Obviously an excellent way to stop spambots while allowing genuine folks to post without problems.

ROFLMAO. Not knowing which of those caused my inability to post, I decided to change them all and hit Submit. That's usually what I do. Make a bunch of changes and hope one of them is the problem.

I just memorize which images apply to which categories and go from there. It's like a game of "Hüsker Dü" to me.

I guess it would have taken a very long time to do trial-and-error I'll amend my research notes accordingly. I think you may be onto something with the brackets though.

Are you being sarcastic here? Just wondering. I suspect it. It was funny, anyhow.

Yes I was being sarcastic. Though my ideas about what Capcha doesn't allow were relatively serious and literal.

Thank you, and sorry. You are patient.

It typically seems to affect veteran members attempting to make medium-to-long-sized posts, by making them complete "one more step" which starts as a simple checkbox ("I'm not a robot") and then demands another step (a rather difficult capcha puzzle), then another, and deletes a lot of what the poster has written, in such a way as to render it unrecoverable even by using the "back" button. And it still doesn't let the post go through.

The only workarounds I've found are to copy the post before hitting "submit" and then splitting the post into smaller chunks and submitting them one by one, with an apology for the split posting and a very brief explanation pointing to CLoudCrap as the culprit.

If anybody wants to start a petition about this issue, I'd be happy to sign it if I'm made aware of its existence. It sucks.

I'm glad someone raised the issues I was facing in such a way as to be recognised for a change. I think we are better off without cloudfare and its monstrous issues affecting all the autistic people on the spectrum here.
I've often wondered when a formal petition or poll would begin in earnest, now that you've mentioned it, please start it somewhere in a less visible part of the site so that the programmers and moderators can be fully aware of it.

Hmmm........that might be a good idea. As far as I know there's no way to create an actual petition, but a new thread could be created with a poll attached. I'm not sure what you mean about "somewhere in a less visible part of the site." Wouldn't it be noticed more if it were in a more visible part of the site? Seems to me it would be like writing a huge message - H E L P ! - on the beach if we were stranded on a desert island, so that any passing aircraft might see it. That is, it might just work.
Opinions, please.

See thread here, as may be seen as cross-posting. :P

I've just read a thread about cross-posting, and it seems it's a somewhat vague term.

viewtopic.php?t=321762

As the subject of CloudFlare and Capcha has already appeared on more than one forum without anybody getting banned AFAIK, I would think there's a precedent for going ahead with a poll in the General Autism Discussion forum. There seems to be some hint in that thread about cross posting that CloudFlare would block it, but we'll see if we try it. Given the number of "cross-postings" I've seen on WP, I can't imagine Capcha would do that. I can't see there's much else we can do except whinge here forever, but I think I'll sit back and wait for folks to give their opinions on the whole idea before I do anything. I don't particularly want to be a martyr. Perhaps the fact that you haven't set up a poll yourself means that you don't either?

Hello. I've set up polls in other posts before, and have been immune to the reaction of protesters. If your reaction is to set up a poll instead of a petition, then by all means do one. It may save some more energy than most to watch a veteran committee enjoy the free speech that others supply.
Of course, I'm merely the onlooker in all of this, and being such a 'Tough Diamond' yourself, you may just get away with it. Martyr or onlooker, or even by sympathy poll.

Is there a way of setting up a petition? I thought a poll was the only option.
