I am now a WP supporter! Great idea, to think of it as a drive. Now I just finally need to support my local NPR station.

Congrats, gwenevyn! :star: I'll be donating soon, as well.

I might be able to in a few....months. Need job, apartment, utilities, and at least one plane ticket first.

I would encourage people to send whatever they can, and not get stumped if they can't afford the amounts listed in the Urgent announcement shown above. Like I said in the OP, we tend to get stuck on "later" because we think we have to give a large amount, or one of the amounts shown, when it's better to give now, even if its 2.00 bucks.

I'd rather give a more appropriate amount when I can, rather than multiple "installments" of my pocket change. I'm sure Paypal charges some amount for the service (if they don't, someone fill me in) so multiple small amounts almost isn't worth it.

That's true. They take like 30 cents + some percentage out of every transaction.

It might be a good idea to note that somewhere, since I doubt everyone is aware of that practice. Sure, sending a couple dollars with paypal is a nice idea, like dropping change in the bucket for the guys with the Salvation Army, but they're getting all of the money, the less that is given here, the less will be received. $0.30 isn't that much off of, say, $15.00, but it is a lot more when the amount is $5.00.

That's a good idea. Also keep in mind that a stamp is 41 cents.

Here's the rates: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/websc ... es-outside

Paypal can be used for us in Australia too. I buy stuff from the US all the time via Paypal :)

What is this advertising all about and how come the ads from various sponsors are not paying for it? I'm not sure I really understand exactly what is going on.
