Interesting... Alternative doesn't seem to have started using an avatar yet, so you can't have blocked it yet, but when I unblocked the only avatar I had blocked on this page, it was yours, UncleBeer. It's blocked again.
And yes, within reason, Alternative is allowed to use whatever avatar he likes. If he uses this one, or almost any other animated one, I will block it. All I say is that it becomes self defeating. A well chosen avatar serves to make a person more recognisable. A badly chosen one means they become fairly anonymous, either because the avatar gets blocked, or people skip past the distraction.

Actually, I forgot to say that I really like your avatar - as a neat image. I can't have it visible, next to your posts, as then I wouldn't manage to read the posts, and I'll happily sacrifice the image in order to read what you are saying.

Actually, I was speaking to UncleBeer, but the same comments may well apply.
I guess the limitation must be to 16,000 bytes, rather than 16,384 bytes, so:

(cropping eight pixels off the right of the image, which doesn't seem to be any great losss)
gets you from the 16,345 byte file to the 15,955 byte file:

but...
I have instantly blocked your avatar, as will many others.
Some will not be using software which can block your avatar, and they will just skip over your posts, without reading them.
