If you're the forum owner or a moderator, I have no problem whatsoever with you formulating and enforcing reasonable rules. If you're a poster who's bent on forcing your own odd rules on others (aka: "power tripping"), get used to disappointment.
Hey, leave her alone (please). It's not very nice to compare her request to compulsory veiling with burquas.

Its amazing how many of us cant follow the simplest of rules,

If you post on the forum there is a good chance a male will reply theres no way to stop people from posting in the womens forum even if you make a rule yourself for the thread "only women reply".

I'm not the one trying to impose whimsical and spurious rules on others. Some folks just can't stand others' freedom. :?

And . . . you flaunt your own cultural misconceptions as to why women wear burquas.

Just post on another forum under a different nick if you want to ask something sensitive FFS. Or deal with the consequences. Just because you're flange doesn't mean you should get any special treatment over others.

And to think we gave these the vote... :(

I shouldn't HAVE to create a new nickname to ask something sensitive. There is a women-only sub-forum which ways no men are allowed to enter. So I posted something that I believed, according to the black and white on the WP website, would NOT be read by any man. If there was no such sub-forum, I would probably have not posted such a personal issue in WP.

And what does "just because you're flange" mean? You forgot to include the indefnite article "a" just before that particular noun. Or perhaps you were using it as a verb, however that doesn't work as you would require conjugating it in the continuous case (flangeing - and you would need the "e" to soften the "g" - as you used the auxiliary very "to be" in "you're"). Or maybe you were meaning it in an adjectival sense, but as there is no such adject as "flange", I doubt that. Of course it's entirely possible to say "flange" in an adjectival way as it sounds like it fits, but still, there you go, no such adjective.

Oh, I could go on for hours and hours and hours and hours about grammar.

I never gave any opinions about burquas. What cultural misconceptions? I know more about burquas than most, including you....believe me....

That was addressed to Pandora (obviously). Try to pay at least as much attention to content as to grammar. :?

Women only subforum

If your scarred men will read it then why post it on a forum on the internet if men where not aloud to enter then the rules would be more strict or something so only females can get into the womens forum,

Whats wrong with a males input onlyway :P

Two points...

1. I don't think Fiona is as upset about men answering as she is about the fact that the forum looked like something it wasn't. The label really needs to be changed**.

2. It seems that everyone new here manages to annoy people at WP - I've done it a bit - heck... I'm probably doing it now... If we want to widen the membership we should really try to cut newbies a bit of slack. Lots of new posters don't understand forum etiquette (and as aspies, we ought to know how that feels since that happens to us in conversation all the time).

** A technical change would be even better but I understand if that's too hard - it would mean a bit of development work unless it's built into the template you're using (if WP uses a tweaked standard template that is).

"This is a place where women can feel safe to be themselves. NO guys allowed! "Having a male gynecologist is like going to an auto mechanic who doesn't own a car."

The no guys allowed bit is the part where she thought no men would read or even post in the womens forum,

Yes...

It probably needs to read something like....

"This is a place to discuss women's issues. It's not exactly man-free but it's for women's issues"

I can understand why she got confused.

I was very surprised to see it in RSS.

Trying to set the forum to where only women can access it is pretty pointless, and would be on any forum that didn't have a foolproof way to verify such things. It isn't as if one couldn't simply lie and say that they were female to gain access. Though it would be nice to believe that nobody would do such a thing, it is also unrealistic.

If it is posted on the internet where some others can see it, you might as well assume that anyone can see it. It may take someone a tiny amount of effort to get around whatever hurdles may exist, and that will be enough to dissuade some from trying to gain access, but not all.

There are other reasons that having it open to all would be a good idea, this is merely a reason why trying to restrict it wouldn't help much.

It wouldnt help anything to make it private it just make females feel more safe to post there womenly discussions and there will be some that will sign up as female just to gain access for some silly reason,

Let's call a spade a spade: nzfiona has made an unrealistic, unfair and unfeasible request. Motion denied.
