@hurtloam: Thanks; I'll try that advice. I didn't realize you were a web developer. Fantastic! No wonder you find this old fashioned! I wish you could offer your services to Alex, even if it cost him... I do think it would be great if we could like threads - have a little thumbs-up sign in the corner. I can't say anything about the wyswyg editor as I know zero about it...

@aghogday: Personally I think he's reforming himself already: just a little message in private and he amended an ill-conceived remark. Sometimes what a mod has to do is just keep people on their toes and make them do a little soul-searching.

Autismforums has auto size for your photo just like every other website.WP is the only website that makes you manually size your photo, which I can't do, I had XFilesGeek upload my photo for me.
On AF I uploaded my own photo.

AF has a third gender option for non-binary people,WP does not have that.

I'm a web developer. This site is so old. Compared to frameworks like Bootstrap this site look hideous to me and reminds me of stuff I worked on over 10 years ago. You can't even like posts here. I hate the wyswyg editor.

I would consider leaving Wrongplanet if a 'like' option were introduced. I don't think a disability forum full of socially awkward/persecuted individuals needs to introduce a popularity contest feature. I think a private 'favorite' option could be fun so that individuals could save posts that they particularly liked for one reason or another.

WP does indeed have an old user interface. I still think it looks generally pleasing though. I went over to this autismforums that everyone is talking about and the user interface gave me an immediate headache.

I'm just one user though.

I think a 3rd gender option would be a great idea for WP. I'm surprised Alex didn't think of it already years ago. Not everyone identifies with the two "traditional" choices.

I have a series of regular avatars which I reduced the size of in order to have them suitable for WP, and saved them in a folder marked Avatars.

AC is friendlier  Don't wanna open a can of worms here, but it's so friendly and kind, you'll get kicked out for knowing someone they don't like or if you search someone's user name (someone they like) And in addition, the layout is a mess. No thanks!

I love that we can't like posts here, or up vote/ down vote them. It makes WP much more friendly and relaxed. No competition, negative feedback, popularity contest, clique support in up/down voting etc. I hope that never changes.

I hate captcha too, but who doesn't.

This makes me laugh this third gender thing. So many Aspies argue for a third gender option, but so many Aspies deny that there is a third (and more) neurodiversity other than NT and autism.

WP is like a nice running shoe.

It has its irritations—but it’s comfortable to me.

I feel the bullying has to stop. It has to be moderated, and moderators and members must let the bully know when it’s occurring. As soon as possible, so the context is known.

I also feel people should learn to take online insults for what they’re worth....which is not much. The people insulting you have the problem—not the person being insulted.

The negative side didn't occur to me. I just think some posts are so great that a like button would make them feel appreciated. I wouldn't add a "thumbs down" one.

we don't need a popularity contest here.

Provided only the person whose comment was "liked" can see this, it should be OK (no-one else needs know whether a comment was appreciated other than the person who posted it).

One thing I have hated on this site since the "update" many years ago, and which I think I mentioned at the time - WHY do we need to scroll to the top of the page to progress to later\earlier pages of threads, when inside a thread we have forward/backward options at the bottom as well as the top?

Considering a post a day or 2 ago (which another moderator has since removed after it was brought up) where he made a post implying conservatives were not intelligent, perceptive, or wise...I REALLY hope he does become reformed, but not holding my breath, as he had earlier participated in another recent thread where that same moderator had reminded people not to make blanket statements such as his.

I don't know, but it seems like he is one of those people who like to push the boundary to see how far it stretches, then stays as close as possible to it without crossing so they are "abiding" by the rules, even if it doesn't feel or look that way to the target of the posts.

I couldn't size a photo in the first place to put it in a photo cache,WP needs auto size like every other site on the web, only WP requires you to size your own photo.Glad you agree about option for non-binary.

Ah, I see what you're saying. I don't mean it in a Facebook kind of way, but more to express agreement or to acknowledge a nicely written post without having to quote it and type out "I agree".

I don't agree. I'm literally using another forum that is way more supportive than this one and there is no bullying. It can be done without vulnerable users needing to just suck it up.
