It'd be nice of a moderator would at least come here and address this issue. Either tell us it's staying with no changes and we can move on or tell us they're addressing these problems.

Moderators can't do anything about the captcha; we don't have access to those tools, and can only work with posts and threads,as well as ban/unban members. We're as affected by captchas as the rest of you are.
I don't think it's likely to be changed in any significant way though. AFAIK this problem started in 2013, then improved, and has now become more problematic again.

Do you think its time to scrap the entire system and re-vamp the site?

Given all the problems people are having with the captchas and the issues I'm having with the macromedia flash ads cancelling out my keyboard inputs I would say yes, the site is in dire need of a massive rewrite. The response times from the server are atrocious and now that I have Windows 10, it's bugging out left and right on Edge. I've had the site actually freeze my computer.

Annnnd now I having the site popping up requests from strange sites asking for my password. Clearly we've got a problem here.

The CAPTCHA is affecting my PMs now too. I can post in the forums, but when I go to post a PM it just goes round and round in circles. I have about 5 PMs saved in my documents, but when the CAPTCHA screws me over when composing a PM on my mobile device, I end up losing my whole message completely, especially if the broswer closes itself, which it sometimes randomly does on my phone for some weird reason. Then I've lost everything, cannot get whatever I was writing back again. If I go to history, the message box just comes upblank. Nothing I can do.

So for those of you whom I haven't replied to in PM recently, please don't take it personally. :(

It sucks having to post one paragraph at a time instead of posting the entire response in one post.

See http://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=298001&start=135#p6914274 and follow onto the next page.

These God-damned captchas are making clarity impossible. f**k them.

Ooo ... the agony!

I typed in seven paragraphs in another thread and had to enter "123" before my text would post!

How will I ever recover from this ghastly trauma?

Imagine having to type three whole digits after typing at least 50 times more than that!

I bet that this post will also get Captcha'ed ...

...

OMG! Imagine having to type "1047" just to submit this post! Oh, the horror!

...

 This post is a sarcastic parody.

I don't know about your posts, but when I answer the captcha, it takes me back to the screen before posting with the text I entered deleted. If i enter it again, it repeats.

When I see that captcha, I know that it is not going to let me make that post without drastic changes. In some cases, I just give up.

I've tried it with both Opera and Chrome and it did the same with both browsers.

And now it's doing it with this. I'll try cutting the text I'm quoted and seeing if it lets me post then.

If it posted the text after answering the captcha, it would be nothing more than a mild irritant. The irritation is justly deserved when it won't let you make your post at all -- just an infinite loop of enter text, answer captcha, enter text, answer captcha, enter text, answer captcha. It doesn't take long to save a copy of what you are trying to post so that you don't have to enter it from scratch each time.

I am happy when CAPTCHA only asks me for 3 or 4 numbers instead of two words one of whom is unreadable.

Just one more step :(

It actually posts after you enter the numbers?

I wonder if it is browser related.

Just one more step, to finding out that your post has vaporized. :x

Sometimes it posts, sometimes it vaporizes. No rhyme or reason
