https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us ... e-visitor-

A site visitor to a website that CloudFlare is protecting can see a captcha for the following reasons:

1.The IP address you are on has shown problematic activity online recently in one of our data sources. If you would like to look your IP up, then please look your IP up at Project Honeypot. If the IP address shows data for malicious activity, you can see why there. You can also attempt to whitelist your IP directly on that page by connecting from that IP.

2. The site owner decided to block the country you are visiting from.

3. Your actions are triggering a Web Application Firewall rule that the website owner has turned on.

What to do:

1. You can still enter the site by passing the captcha. You can also request to the site owner that the whitelist your IP address. You must have cookies and JavaScript enabled in your browser settings to pass the captcha. If you are running any anti-virus or firewall programs on your computer, then you may also need to check to make sure that they aren't blocking access to the captcha image.

2. If your IP is showing that you are distributing malware or spam, your computer may have an infection and we would recommend running an anti-virus scan.

Note: CloudFlare employees can not remove the captcha. The captcha is showing specifically because of security settings the site owner has turned on.

In case the mods are reading: http://www.techrez.com/remove-cloudflar ... ange-page/

One of Cloudflare security features is to allow only humans have access to your blog by bringing up a challenge page where users are requested to insert the correct code before the blog is shown to them.

While this looks like a good feature, it is really annoying and can be very frustrating for humans who don’t have enough patience. The goodnews is that you quickly get rid of Cloudflare captcha in 60 seconds.
Removing Cloudflare Challenge Page

1. Login to your Cloudflare dashboard
2. Go to Cloudflare Settings
3. Navigate to Security Settings tab
4. Change “Medium” to “Essentially Off” in your security profile.

That’s all, your settings will be automatically saved and Cloudflare challenge page will no longer show on your blog.

It is not cloud fare per se. The software has won numourous tech awards. I have the same IP. And have not been asked to put in numbers on other websites in months. And when I was asked, it was once and if I put in the right number it lets me post. And it certainly never asked me to put it numbers when I cancel a post as regularly happens here. And I find it hard to believe that every WP member has malicious software.

I can only conclude that the cloud fare needs to be uninstalled, reinstalled and configured by a different person.

There are a number of complaints about Cloudflare's captchas for other sites as well.

There are plenty of other complaints about them as well.

Cloudflare, frankly, is ***AWFUL***. I mean, seriously, it's SO bad that it's gotten to the point where I actually dont trust it. As in, I treat it like a threat, when it appears; I added more layers of security programs to my machine after running into the thing enough times (both from this machine and others) and watching it do weird crap to browsers I was using (right now I'm using Chrome, but I'll use any major browser that isnt IE). I tolerate it ONLY on this site, because this site is important, and typically will refuse to touch other sites if it appears on them. That's how much of a mess I consider it to be. I dont trust software/whatever that acts like it's literally made of glitches.

Hell, look at the "service" it provides for this site. Aside from driving everyone totally freaking insane with buggy captchas (I'll get to that in a moment here...) it DOESNT DO ANYTHING AGAINST HYPER-OBVIOUS SPAMBOTS. ARGH. I just looked at the front page, just now, before posting. This. MULTIPLE PAGES are filled with gibberish topics from obvious spambots. And this idiotic "service" cant figure out what these are and maybe, you know, enforce some security on them?

And then, yes, the captchas. They're BUGGY AS HELL. I'm sure plenty have run into the "captchas deleted my post I was writing!" bug. That, alone, should be enough to ring about 3000 warning bells, that it is doing that sort of thing ON A FORUM of all places. But, because DerpFlare is a glitchsplosion, it's easy to undo it's stupidity by using the magic of your browser's back button. When it happens to me, I hit back twice, going back to the version of the page where my post wasnt torn up, and then go forward again, and the best way to describe it is that the captcha fires up again, but doesnt quite "catch", goes weird, and has no further effect.

And that's just THAT issue. There's also the fun ones where it screws up it's own damn images, or asks you to read street signs where it only shows you two of the letters (seriously, Cloudflare? Seriously?), or doesnt load the images, or loads the images but not the interface to enter them. Or my personal, absolute favorite thing I've seen it do: The Infinite Captcha. You enter the damn numbers/whatever, you do them correctly, you hit the button, and the page reloads. You do this, over and over again, no matter how many times, and it just keeps spazzing out and reloading the captcha. You can try to exit and reload the entire site, do whatever you want, but when it's in that mode, you're stuck. It doesnt happen often, and to some degree it seems to be determined by the site (aint seen it happen here.... yet) but that it's even CAPABLE of happening should be another 21309537 warning bells there.

And through all of this, this amazing "service" cant even handle some damn bots. Of the EXTREMELY simple sort, the type that dont even bother to hide that they're bots. The sorts where you can tell their designers really, REALLY didnt give a damn. It cant even stop those. Pathetic.

Yep. Dont trust it any further than I could throw the planet Jupiter. Which, I have to say, isnt very far.

There, my anti-Cloudflare rant is over for now. I have to get that out every now and then. It really does just get so old.

The back button method does not always work for me. Sometimes it just goes straight back to before my post and the forward icon is greyed out. The only method is write your post in another location or at least copy your post to another location before you submit or preview. And even though I should know better if I am hyper focused, in a rush, or just feeling very emotional about my post I forget to take take the extra steps I should not have to take before cloud fare forces me to take extra steps I should not have to take.

Just one more step :(

It actually posts after you enter the numbers?

I wonder if it is browser related.

mine does, about half the time.

It’s not the captchas that bother me. It’s the glitch in the captcha process, whereas even when you answer the captcha correctly, it still will delete the post you just typed up, and send u back to the quote to which you were trying to respond. Then you have to retype it all over again. Ugh.
So I have started opening up a blank word doc and typing my response there, and then copy/pasting to the quote. That way if it gets deleted, I can simply copy/paste again.
This also prevents that ever so frustrating deal where you are typing, and it keeps timing out you. I hope that helps someone 

Innit funny how spammers can spam freely while many of us have to solve captchas to report 'em?

i didn't mean more moderation, i meant people who are able to make actual changes and fixes to the site when alex cannot for whatever reason.

The CAPTCHA is easier to work around when on your computer, but when using a mobile device there's no word document to copy your posts to.
Often I have spent ages composing a post to WP on my phone, and then the CAPTCHA popped up asking me to enter numbers, so I went back and tried submitting again, but then it done the same thing, so I entered the numbers/words correctly, and it then gave me an empty box, and my post hadn't gone through at all.
Even when I copy the text, it still does the same thing when I log out and back in to WP or come back to WP later and try again by pasting my copied text, it still does the same thing.

Entering CAPTCHA would not bother me if it wasn't so glitchy, let your post go through, and actually prevented the bots from posting their crap on the forum.
