The new moderators job sounds so interesting, I wonder who will become one?

Do you know exactly when it will be announced?

Hey Quatermass nominate me for Mod. Go on you know you want to. We could be best mates and hang on in the staff room and malign members in condescending tones. What do you reckon?
Alex seems to consider your opinion worthy of some merit?

we're waiting for replies back from moderators we've selected.

That was a week ago and we still don't have any new moderators. Did they all say "No thank you"?

I'm also wondering if the new mods have been selected yet.

Maybe they're training first. I don't know how they'd do that but it's a thought. >.>

Either way, they probably wouldn't make a huge fuss over a new mod on their first day because some members would try to take advantage of that, I'd think. :/

As far as I can tell, the mods aren't given any "training". They're given the tools and asked to get to work. Moderating is also a volunteer effort, so no one gets paid or anything.

I know they aren't paid but I thought that they maybe have to go through some sort of introduction to the tools or something. >.>

From my experiance, you aren't put through training and told how to do the job when you are given the tools. I think it's common sense they expect and trust.

I have been a mod at a few other places since I was 17. In fact I still am in one of the yahoo groups but it's been dead for a long long time, same as on a video game forum that's been dead for four years or five. I think I still have my tools but never been logged in in four years because it died. And I don't know the url to the place or how to get there.

I still reckon I am a good bet. I am thick-skinned, unafraid of confrontation, been a long term member, happy to stand up to injustice and I am a pretty awesome guy.

Don't want to clutter up the 'contact mods' thread, but is Tallyman a new mod?
