I have a suggestion, if someone is to make a mens section, it would have to be moderated and rules has to be set out.

I'm only voting no because, as was already noted, it was apparently tried and wasn't used much. I suspect the same would happen again.

While it is true that more men are DX'd with AS, which means that women are outnumbered, and that seems to support the existence of a Women's only forum, and that forum is used quite a bit, which seems to support its existence, I find that to be a quirky paradox. I find it such because I seem to notice that women are more active in proportion to men on the forums to begin with.

That said, men, it seems, tend to post everywhere anyway, and don't generally seem to feel the need for a "sanctuary" where only (or at least mostly) men are posting and reading.

Yes, there are a LOT of exceptions to the "rule," but I don't believe there are enough of us who would actually use it to warrant a separate forum.

What we would tend to talk about there are already forums for. What that isn't covered by the already existing forums, would we talk about there? I think the reality is there isn't much left that men would want to talk about that isn't already facilitated by the existing forums.

No need for a separate forum, why not
just post as if one IS in one?

If there isn't one, create one in
your own world.

It does not have to "exist" in their
world to exist in yours.

Reality is how you perceive it not them.

There's no place for the topic I was thinking about. Random discussion is about the only thing I can think of, but this is a specific issue that is really best suited for a men's forum.

You know... I'm from Northern Nevada, and I've been to a lot of casinos in NN, including Cal-Neva in Reno. On the second floor, near the poker room, there are two bathrooms: One men's room and one women's room. They're laid out in such a way that, no matter the angle you look in them at, you can't even see the sinks, let alone the other stuff.

There is one thing that you can see exiting from the men's room, no matter whether you're trying to look into the restroom or not.

The women's restroom has a couch.

Just thought I'd point that out. Sorry for the double post.

The couch is usually situated in an entry room, separate from where the toilets are. Often known as the "Powder Room."

It's where the women are stereotypically known to spend their time "gossiping" about their dates, husbands, and whatever else women want to discuss when there are no men around.

Funny how it's a stereotypical view, yet the rooms do exist in many establishments, and there is usually no corresponding space for men.

My experience has been that men don't tend to talk much about things they would mind women hearing. For the most part I don't think we care much whether women are listening, which may explain why we are so often accused of being crass an uncaring. Whatever the truth is, it's not unusual for there to be a "space" (be it in reality or cyberspace), specifically for women, but no counterpart for men.

The fact is, there just aren't enough of us who would make good use of it. Most just say what they have to say no matter where they are, or who is listening anyway.

Besides, when it comes to public bathrooms, if men ever do want to chat "mano a mano' they will often have their pow-wows right in with the porcelain, and think nothing of it. A couch? What "real man" wants to get all comfy on a sofa with another man?

*sits back and waits for the possibly inevitable "PC" backlash*

Actually, I was explaining to my girlfriend that, in my hypothesis, one of the reasons why men are diagnosed as autistic more than women is that it's more noticeable in men. Boys aren't pressured into socializing much, so when there's a decrease in their tendency to socialize, then socializing becomes almost non-existant.

There's so much pressure for girls to socialize, though, that even autistics get caught up in it a lot, so there's no complete absence of socialization. Girls that socialize less are more likely to be labelled as things like tomboy or independant. They'll still socialize, though, so they aren't tested for autism.

I use to get put down a lot for not being social. It was much worse in highschool. I had both guys and girls making fun of me and calling me all sorts of names. I think if I were a guy though I probably would've had my butt kicked.

No, because the majority of users are male and I can't think of anything that wouldn't belong in another board, which is where they all post anyway.

Just because you cannot think of the topics doesn't mean they don't exist.

MissConstrue: I was talking about the average case. The fact is that girls DO get tested for autism, just not as much.

Masculism and related topics, for one.

Edit: By the way, that's a LOT of one.

there is? :D

There should be a sticky titled "why there is no men's section: an explanation" since this gets asked so often.

It actually would be nice to get alot of the venting topics about women out of the various forums and concentraetd into one spot. Being a man I understand the need to vent about the fairer (and more brutal) sex but you have posts about it all over the bloody place I've noticed.

We can also talk about MMA, the best kind of smoke, that one time you had a fifty dollar bottle of tequila and twins were involved, the type of bosum size we prefer, the best way to take an a**hole coworker out back behind the dumpster for a discussion involving fists and heads being slammed against walls, beer goggles and how it affects you, electronics. Hell I'm just brainstorming these are the types of conversations my coworkers have. I can't imagine it takes that much effort for a board to be slapped up. Give it a try for a few months and if it doesn't work close it back down.
