Experiment #3

I've managed to do around 10 minutes browsing using IE9 with two tabs open on WP. Alternating periodically between the two tabs. After the first tab came up with the error message I tried using the second tab (different page on WP) but that immediately came up with the error too. Opened a third tab and pasted in yet another WP URL. Immediately failed. So it looks like when it fails it "contaminates" all tabs in the same browser, meaning the browser has to be closed and reopened again to make it work.

Experiment #4

The first IE9 browser session is currently in the error state. I've opened another IE9 browser window (not a tab) and pasted in a WP URL and that has come up with the error message straight away. So whatever the problem is it is persisting across multiple browser windows / processes. I also opened Firefox and pasted the same URL in and it opened correctly. So the "contamination" stays with one type of browser until all instances of it are closed.

It is getting more weird by the minute. I'd just got the offline / no cached version message in IE, so opened Firefox and pasted in the same WP URL. Got the error message there too. Closed and reopened both browsers and pasted in the same URL and got the error message on both browsers again. Closed both browsers, dropped my internet connection and reconnected with a new IP address and opened both browsers and pasted in the URL, both worked! Bizarre coincidence or not?

We have been working with partner support over at Cloudflare to get this issue resolved.

Some corrective measures have been taken and hopefully should resolve (most) of the issues that are being experienced. If you continue to have problems, please PM me with your IP address and output of a ping to wrongplanet.net so we can determine what node your traffic is coming from (there are thousands around the world).

Thanks!

I'm using Opera Mini 4 and I still have the same CloudFlare issues but since I'm on a phone, can't the admins see my settings anyway? Like every other admins on other websites do?
Though hopefully my problems are just the same as TallyMan just on a different basis of web browsing.

We have very limited visibility to the cloudflare system as a whole - virtually nothing on a per-user basis. We need that information so that we can tell cloudflare what node you're accessing the site from, so they can take a look at that node specifically and figure out what's going on in relation to the WP servers.

Cornflake/Tallyman don't suppose you can try to use other sites using Cloudflare and see if you have the same issues... I hear 4chan is using it  ... um, actually that's probably not the best site to test with / go anywhere near *shudders*
I took one for the team... I may be (shudder) "damaged goods" now. 8O
No problems with 4chan at all.

Also, another IP and ping result duly PM'd.

I'm not at all tech savvy, so if this keeps happening that'll be the end of WP for me, I'm afraid.

Way things have been for the last day or so, I don't even know if I'll be able to post this message. :(

I had problems yesterday (connecting via the London (LHR) Cloudflare node). Hitting the "retry a live version" link worked most of the time.

Should I take the silence as a sign that things are improving on this issue?

Thanks!

My connection was fine after my last post and has not showed that the site is offline. Might just be fixed. =]
Was the cause found or is it something that can't be explained?

The problem was related to the way CloudFlare was working - or rather, not working.
We should be able to find out later whether that problem was found and resolved or CloudFlare has been abandoned for now.
