If I ever get several months of free weekends and do it, I'll probably open source it and make it free anyway.

I have good graphic design sense for a coder, but I don't even allow myself to get involved because the professionals are better than I am.

So, is it that the "esthetics" of this website don't appeal to you?

This website is as close to perfect as it can be for what it does - it provides text-based forum discussions in a more-or-less freewheeling format.

Then give the rest of us a chance to form our own opinions about your ASD Community Website ... what was that link again?

I already pointed out that I know there is no competition. I think the lack of competition is why things haven't moved faster and harder on WP.

There are tons of people who run ASD sites that try to "fix" WP. But, I think Cabel Sasser from Panic said it best: "When you double click the competition in the morning, that's a pretty good sign that it's time to hang up your hat!"

WP is where it is because it attracts the most visitors. The only thing that matters on a community site is the makeup of the community itself.

Hence why there is no competition. You've already cornered the market, reached critical mass. eBay did the same thing and they are still milking it. :)

And there are those of us that don't try to fix WP, just did it for a project.

"Could not obtain topic watch information" has been pretty frequent lately as well.

Agreed.

As much as I want to work on a new forum software package I have to shelf the idea for a while, I'm working on a separate idea that's so simple it's stupid but that I think I can actually sell.

Sadly, the software that this site runs on is woefully old; I wish there could be some sort of upgrade possible.

And it's not Object Oriented (The forums aren't, at least... phpBB2 never was, being PHP4 code).

The admins are already aware of this and since Alex is the owner of the site, they are beholden to wait two years for him to develop a new site, apparently with forum software that is customized for reasons unexplained.

However, I'm getting the page about the site experiencing high volume. Rather than "passing the time" by watching the YouTube video, I am just not going to use the site for the remainder of the day. Don't miss me too much.

You should be able to get rid of the high volume page by refreshing. Works for me.

It's gotten to the point now where every other post I make sais:

"Could not obtain topic watch information"

And then I'll hit the previous screen button to try and post and then I'll get:

"You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while."

I know I brought one of these issues up before but it's been very bad lately. Has anyone else been experiencing this like every other post like I have?

I have to agree. Every time I hit "Submit" I'm greeted with "Could not obtain topic watch information". Sometimes even refreshing the page greets me with errors.
Is WrongPlanet reaching its limit?

The database has been pushed pretty hard lately, and Cloudflare doesn't understand the site's errors and caches bad info (which, for now, there's nothing that can be done about that). Coupled together, the behavior is a little bizarre.
