So, this Cloudflair . . . I'm going to deliberatively misspell it as a sign of disrespect!

It's bad today again. The illiterate monkey also seems to dislike paragraphing - it prefers those ugly long walls of text without breaks. Spare us!

Okay, it reached a new level of DERP for me today.

I mean, really, this is the point where I just cant believe that anyone A: uses or B: trusts this thing.

I go to do it's bloody stupid "capcha", and look at the word, and the word it wants me to type is "briarwood".

But what does the picture ACTUALLY show?

It shows a blurry "arwood" with a bizarre smear that MIGHT have been an "i", and the B and R utterly cut out of the pic entirely. How I figured it out, I'm not sure. Probably just because there's a street with that name near my house that I pass by all the time.

And it's like.... okay. It cant even get it's own central security mechanic correct. Just.... what.

Like I said, nuclear jackhammers. It's mastered the use of the damn things by now, and further down it goes...

What manner of fail will it put out next?

Oh wow, I would've failed that captcha. I have problems enough reading the words it wants, often can't, they're too warped. If I had to add letter to it, like briarwood, which I've never heard before, I'd def fail.

No matter what, I can't post on The Haven. I get the cloud flare prompt every time and no matter how many times I type in the code, it always goes back to cloud flare asking me to type in the code. It's an endless loop. The Haven is the only forum I can't post in.

If you still have a copy of the text, try taking out any paragraph breaks so that you just have solid text and see if that works...

Has anyone even attempted to adapt WP to a forum reader like Tapatalk, just like the competition did a few years ago (until Tapatalk changed it formats)?

This reminds me of what it's doing to me lately. This might be similar to what it's doing to you.

I go to make a post, right? I type it up, hit submit. Derpflare fires up with a pile of gibberish that I'm supposed to decode, as usual. Instead of submitting, it will always then take me back to the screen for typing stuff, except it will have deleted the entire message. If I type the message again and submit, it will repeat.

But here's the solution I've found.... and yet more proof of just how unfathomably awful this "service" is. This has yet to not work.

I type up my message that first time. Submit, Derpflare appears, decode nonsense, hit button, message resets.... and I hit "back" on my browser twice, bringing me back to the original message, which is still fully there. I do nothing to the message, but instead, immediately hit submit again. It MIGHT attack me with another flare of derps, but it also might not... yet either way, THE MESSAGE IS SUBMITTED JUST FINE. It MIGHT not fire up again, it WONT delete it again even if it does. The repetition of it will also stop.

And when that's all it takes to break the spell...

The way it's being applied is just straight up stupid.

How it should be applied is:

* To accounts that are below a certain age (most spam is going to come from new accounts).
* To accounts that make a certain number of new posts/threads in a certain time (to cover compromised accounts).
* To accounts that make threads/posts that are pretty similar (covers everything).

If cloudflare can't be bypassed depending on who is posting / how often they're posting, then it's not the right solution for the problem.

Just.... just look at this.

Image

That, I mean... that speaks for itself. Just LOOK at that! How is... how does.... why would... just... it... I cant even....

Image

And again.... people are supposed to TRUST this thing with the security of their site? WHY WOULD ANYONE PAY FOR THIS???

...dont answer that. I dont actually want to know. The answer would probably hurt.

Press the refresh button to get a different image. I have adjusted the settings again to try to make this happen less. let me know if you notice a difference.

On the rare occasion that Cloudflare has "Captcha'ed" me, there are usually only three or four numbers to enter. Has anyone had to type in more?

There was one from a few days ago that was so dark I could not read it. Clicking the "Refresh" button gave me a bright and clear image of the number "123". Yes, Cloudflare is bit of a nuisance; but considering the alternative, it's a welcome nuisance.

I have gotten 2 seperate words with up to 10 characters to enter combined at times. Other times I have gotten The 3 to 4 numbers capthca

....the alternative happens ANYWAY though. That's part of the whole problem. This site doesnt get it as bad as others I've seen (where it often does literally nothing). Those plagues of bots that hit every few days? A proper security service of any type should be stopping those, particularly when they're as freakishly obvious as those particular bots are. It doesnt. It fails VERY frequently. On a site that does get targeted more, by both bots and other things... it reaches rather absurd levels. Some sites become genuinely unsafe, despite the "security" provided by this damn thing. And added to this is the fact that Derpflare will also make ACTUAL members have miserable experiences, by trying to stop (and often deleting or corrupting) actual posts.

And things like the image I posted? Also frequent. That's not the first time I"ve seen it.... nor is it the second, third, fourth, or even the 10th. And that's just ONE of it's problems... there are many. And they've been there for a LONG time, since, surprise, those behind it dont fix the very numerous glitches.

Frankly, the whole thing is downright pathetic. It's like watching either some sort of badly written comedy routine, or a perpetual trainwreck. Or both at once.

On a side note:

Image

...really, Cloudflare? Really? I'm sure that one goes well with the nearsighted users.

Insert facepalm.jpg of your choice here. Or maybe this one is becoming worthy of a facePLANET.

EDIT: Aaaaaaand bots have spammed the boards with topics that have gibberish titles again.

Misery, the refresh button is very useful, and takes only one more click to implement.
