Ah yes, I remember the feeling, it's a real aha! moment when you get a name for it! I found out only a couple of years ago and came straight here. It's made me feel 100% better about my oddness, lol. There are lots of us True, no need to feel alone :)

We never seem to be congested to just one area though...

It's good that we are spread out across the globe, waiting for when the time comes to take over...muhahahahahaha

(I'm doing a lot of posting for someone who's supposed to be taking a break  :))

Okay, I'm over at the Dino Cafe. That's fine for me. I haven't gone through all the various areas here yet. I'll probably get lost. But having one place to post is fine. I just happened to look at a few of the places that were for younger people at first, and hoped there was a place for older people.

Count me in as voting for a separate forum for us older Aspies. The kids have one, the teens have one, the parents have one... we want one!

yeah! that's what I thought when I took the test. So what, this is just like me!
That was probably the most Aspie reaction I could have had, too!

Merle

keeping in the spirit of the thread, you can see why we would like an area for us Aged Aspies, as if TRUE posted this on the Dino Aspie Cafe thread he would have had to search through the pages to see if anyone even read his post.

(pleeeeeeeze, powers that be! pleeeeeeze?)

intgratiating smile , oh! I forgot, those powers that be are Aspie too! and that doesn't work!

No, it doesn't, unfortunately, Merle, I've already tried it, lol.

Wonder what the next tactic should be? Hmmm...

Hey, I'm a girl. Woman. Whatever. I have boobies, naturally. I just went to the last page on the Dino Cafe. It's okay to post there, I'm fine with that as the older area. What would a new older area have that the Dino Cafe doesn't?

we have already taken over the world, we have the NTs doing all that stuff they are so good at and we are reaping the benefits!

Quite forgot to put in my two pennies earlier in the thread.

Yep, I'm all for the forum for the older Aspies - I don't quite make the Dino Cafe yet (counting down the days), but I think generally 30+ is probably a good age range.

Well the NT parents with AS kids have one at least  - we tried the "Please please PLEASE can the AS parents with kids have a forum", but didn't quite win that battle

Am I moaning? Must be because I'm such an old git - there argument won :D . Put us old gits in a forum where we can't be thread killers with our moany old ways

Starr, good to see you around. Didn't recognise you for a minute with the Thelma & Louise theme - good film :)

And good to cross paths with you too Merle - you've changed your avatar as well - I'm just getting too confused with all these changes :? Yet another reason for our own forum - us oldies can all be confused with technology together

The only reason that happened probably has something to do with alex not saying anything about whether he wanted it or not.

Hia Cernunnos, I'm not really here, just can't resist posting a little bit, :D Hope you're keeping the Last Person to Thread going 'til I get back 'proper'.

Separate threads, hopefully :) .

The Dino-Aspie thread is brilliant, yes it is for probably most members, but some of us Aspoids need the structure of separate threads...I don't think it's only me who has a problem with following a conversation with a lot of mixed 'voices' all in one thread. (Please someone tell me it's not just me who struggles with this :? )

Also, there are some members who are younger than the Dino Aspies (although I know there is no strict age limit there) who feel that they have no place to go. I probably wouldn't want to go in a separate forum often, personally, I'm quite happy hanging around the margins and popping in here and there where the mood takes me but I'm happy to support Bizarre and everyone else who would like a separate forum. Why the heck not I say, and in case I've not mentioned it for....oooh, a couple of days, an OBSESSIONS FORUM would be great too. :)

Yes and as others have mentioned AN AS-PARENTS FORUM!! ! WE REALLY DO SERIOUSLY NEED THIS!! (Oh dear, getting all strident and bolshy in my old age...time for my medication 8O)

Alex, would you tell us what you think about the requests for these new forums please? Are they a possibility? :)

Oh I'm trying, but I just can't keep up with the youngsters. By the time I've thought about my next post, they've usually filled up another 10 pages 8O

I would think there could be a forum that combines all the combinations of Aspie/NT parent/child/familial things. As the population ages, the group that was parents taking care of kids will become kids that are taking care of parents. It goes both ways, eventually. And knowing how to take care of parents is important. Whether it's an NT or an Aspie in either role, doesn't matter, there should be a place to bridge the gaps between the two.

Siblings should also have a place in that group. How to deal with brothers or sisters that are Aspie or NT. Or grandparents, they may be part of the family. Aunts and uncles, cousins. The more family members that can be included, the larger the specific group can become.

And we can all learn from each other. In one case a sibling might have the answer on how to deal with an NT (or with an Aspie) child that helps a grandparent with their grandchild. Or that helps a cousin with their aunt.

Even might help babysitters or neighbors or school chums. They can read about Aspie and NT interactions. That would be a good thing.

uh yeah, it's just the one thread so one never knows if there's a topic under discussion, or just stream of conciousness or a two hander chat. it's also very very busy, so i just look in there every know and then, wondering if i've missed anything or not.

Foreign language forum has 488 posts since it was started in Feb 2006

Dino Aspie Cafe topic has 1819 posts since Feb 2007.

I bet soon the Dino Aspie Cafe will have more posts the the whole of the "kids crater"

Good point. It's probably well worth a try.
