Right I have done a search so it is a bit clearer what alyssa is talking about. Though I don't really know the nature of what was sent. Maybe alex just felt he was doing his job. He may have been wrong but I don't doubt he was acting with integrity. I'm under no illusion that any content I post on a site can be reviewed. That's what all the ToT essentially say. I just wouldn't want it to be for no good reason. Like i said I don't know the background but resorting to pm to argue a point is not advisable. Do it out in the open.

In balance alex said back then that this was primarily an American site. I would hope that that has changed. I feel it is quite international and I hope that alex would consider it to be.

Understood. But some reference to the bazza issue would have

Yep. At least one member here has some serious complaints about
the reading of PM's. And that's all I'm aware of. AFAIK, we are unable
to do this.

Given that both bizarre and bazza have had problems, I suspect
it's something more nefarious than some random bug. Just what,
I am lacking enough knowledge of this BBS to tell. But, it would
be possible to set up an account and automatically fill a PM box
with messages. Investigation of the particular server (no doubt
a proxy), MIGHT give some clue as to the culprit - but my guess
is that it shall remain unknown.

The site is still based in the US, and is subject
to laws here. Which are not as free as they used
to be, or as in many other countries in the world.

Since I don't care if I get banned I will risk all by telling some history. About a year ago, it was found that a certain administrator not only had access to all members' PM's, but was READING them.

There was a big to-do, almost all of the mods at the time either were banned because they dared to raise a fuss or left because they were so, well, righteously pissed.

Ok but be objective. You need to go through a sequence of events with all them members involved. Even if it was deliberate that doesn't mean it wasn't exploiting a bug. The count is actually fairly insignificant if not an annoying badly designed feature. They actually didn’t receive that many messages in their inbox.

and exploited a bug. No problem. All that

Am I the only one who has noticed that both times/days this pm issue occurred a certain spammer was also spamming the site up?
