A username that might need changing is scumsuckingdouchebag. I just saw the name, I don't know the person. Does anyone else find it offensive? I hope so.

We discussed it and decided to let him keep it for now, since it's not technically a word we disallow here.

He also does not appear to be trolling content. If he wishes to change it later, I think Alex will oblige.

I don't find the username offensive, and I'm glad the admin staff don't judge anyone based on their username.

Oh, we tend to keep that in consideration. We just make sure that their posts aren't offensive.

What do you guys think of me changing my user name? I don't want anyone thinking I'm a brat.

Name changes are incredibly rare, so I doubt it... but try petitioning Alex directly if you like. :)

I think you just rejoin under a new name and make a thread advising of it, or put it in your sig.

I don't know about you, but personally, I find the word "bag" extremely offensive.

Would it be possible for me to be named Rath? Berserker sounds so... Odd. And I don't want people thinking I'm an insane viking that goes berserk randomly.

What about Berserker from 8-Bit Theater? He's majorly violent half of the time. The other half, he is a cultured and sophisticated fellow.

What I think is worse in a username is starting it with a lower case letter instead of upper case. I hate it. Its so pretentious, like k.d. lang

Can you change the software so it automatically capitalises the first letter? And can you put in an auto-correct spell check too?

How odd. I find multiple uppercase letters in a username to be horribly offensive. :P

So, to summarize, the answer to the OP is:

No, you cannot change your username unless it is offensive and Alex approves of the change.

Am I correct?

Basically. It doesn't have to be offensive, but there should be a good reason.
