And I wasn't hitting out at religion; I was deeply disturbed by the attitude of some of the posters in that thread, and I felt I needed to hammer my point in. I think that leading a mentally ill person to believe that they are being tormented by demons is one of the worst evils imaginable. Hopelessly confusing a person who is already confused, effectively... in what way is that acceptable?

Does that make things clearer?

I think you have to see that people who attack you in religious forums are doing the 'accuser/slanderer' thing (like their father). It's always the way.

Never makes sense when the "victims" are throwing just as many stones as the "aggressors."

It is rather odd to think that the mainstream religion of all cultures going back many thousands of years, all who report the same results from the same study, the same beings without flesh, which are major in all religions, can be dismissed as, they must have all been taking dope, they were on that PCP.

I sugget reading the Bible, Koran, Tibetan Book of the Dead, Egyptian Book of the Dead, Mahabharata, and any other text dealing with the spiritual world. They all say the same thing.

The concept that the Creation of the Universe is without meaning, that life is an accident, that humans are meat bags of chemicals and nothing more, that there is nothing and no reason, has been heard before. The idea that their is nothing outside of self, and death is the end, has been heard before. Many reasons have been given, the latest Science. Everything can be explained as nothing. Well then, why does it exist?

The Universe has not always existed, life has not always existed, and awareness has not always existed.

Can Science create a Universe of energy and mater?

Can Science create life?

Can Science create awareness?

Something did.

I am made of that mater and energy, I have that life, that awareness, and it did not come from Science.

Those who deny, those who revile, those who insult, hiss, spit venom, but have no answer to replace the purpose of Creation, the unfolding plan, the oneness of a meaningful Universe, who attack, but cannot build, defile but cannot purify, that can only pull down to meaningless darkness and death eturnal, have always been around, and they have names by which they can be cast out.

The Word exists, within it are all things. The Word holds power over all.

Only two paths are open to humans. To be guided by the Word, or to follow the voice of detractors, who have nothing but darkness, death, and eturnity in fire, to offer.

The Word asks only three things,

Do no evil,

Do not associate with those that do,

Do not profit from evil.

Those lead to the path away from the Word.

You were given the knowledge of good and evil, and the choice.

I have made my choice.

I accept the The Word Created both good and evil. That there is a purpose to it.

We are being tested, some are destined for the lake of fire, some for life beyond death.

All spiritual teachings of all people through time have said the same.

Light is better than darkness, by their acts, you will know them.

And I do all of those happily without being a Christian. My comment about drugs was made in jest. Cynical jest, of course, but jest all the same. After 5 years of enduring thrice-weekly chapels at a Lutheran high school, and seeing little of the good of God in this world, but more of the good and evil of Man, lead to me being an agnostic, bordering on atheist. It is all I can do to not snigger or roll my eyes when confronted by religion.

That was very similar with me, a part from the existence of lots of different denominations, in which I wonder which of them are "correct" and "why", and the contradiction with scientific stuff.

Secular explanations about things, about anything make more sense to me.

I just want to be in a church where I feel I belong instead of being on the outer reaches and fringes.
