I don't see how you can accuse Bizarre of instigating anything. She was simply trying to find out what was going on with the hacking of her mailbox and since she got no response from Alex she had to do it via the forum. I think to use the phrase 'pure spite' is over-emotional tosh on your part. You obviously have a personal grudge against her and are using your position as a moderator to get at her i.e. locking her threads. I thought Moderators were supposed to be impartial. Ha! You attacked Bizarre the other day when she'd already left, then when I complained you removed your post so no-one could see what you'd written. If anyone is 'stoking the fire' here it's you.
You say the reason for your locking of her thread was "well explained" ...threads shouldn't be so flippantly locked, posts moved or deleted as they are here, it's ridiculous over-moderation. Freedom of speech should always take priority over your own personal opinion of a a member's viewpoint. I wonder how long it will be before this thread too gets locked?

Freedom of speech gives you choice where you say something. It doesn't not give you the right to tell an institution or site what content they deem acceptable under their rules.

It is so over-moderated here that the actual site's policy seems to have become irrelevant compared to the personal opinion of a moderator who uses his power rather too freely and in a very personally biased way.

Who are you talking about calandale? I think your being unfair on the guy. He is pretty lenient. You can say GOSH DARN IT he probably wouldn't do anything.

He locked that thread because it had allegation in it and the title and it wasn't being at all constructive. Note he hasn't looked this thread.

He has also said he believe in your concerns.

He hasn't locked this thread. YET. You think I'm being unfair on the guy? Well I think he's been unfair to Bizarre, and since he is a Mod and therefore has a lot more power than her, I am voicing my opinion. You know, freedom of speech and all that?

Whether it is possible to say GOSH DARN IT here isn't in question. It is the misuse of the power of moderation which concerns me in this case.

Besides have you heard of something called libel or defamation? I gave bizarre the benefit of the doubt for a few seconds until it was clear this was just a tit for tat exercise.

Does defamation apply to what is said at forums though? (I don't know) If it did the courts would be full by now, lol.

Implying a specific person has hacked your account certainly has a case. There are ways of dealing with things. This is not how.

I really don't see calandale as a "hacker..." he just seems to lack the knowledge and attitude. I am grasping at straws here, but maybe the glitch is triggered server-side, i.e. when the person's PMs are accessed or something else. This would explain why two people on a related issue had the glitch triggered. As for alex not wanting to deal with us/ this site... I don't blame him. Like I said it is a thankless job being an admin. Sure, he SHOULD, but god knows I had avoided like the plague stuff in my life that needs to be dealt with... plus, he is AS and ADD. As easy as it is for us to fault him, we ought to have a little more appreciation. This site is a free service after all, ads or not.

Freedom of speech does not only apply to saying naughty words (actually those are breaking the TOS) It means if something is very wrong you can bring it out in the open and hopefully get to the bottom of it.

Who is Calendale? He was only a member for a week and then was made a Moderator.
He was still an Emu Egg. I don't understand that at all. And Grealwyn was only a member for a few weeks herself and was made a moderator.

Further, how does one actually become a moderator; what requirements do they have to fulfill?

1. If someone is trying to find something out,
a BUMP on an already sore topic is not the way
to do it.

2. I have no grudge against her. Never interacted with
her. I thought that the personal attacks that she made
on Grael were out of line, but also feel that speech against
moderators is protected.

3. That post is sitting in the mod board. It was NOT an attack.
I removed it, in order to avoid re-opening wounds, as well as
to avoid discussing a member who was supposedly no longer
here. That being the case, it seemed pointless, and was upsetting
you - only thus was it removed.

4. OVERMODERATION? Good lords. We remove almost nothing.

5. This thread is being conducted in a reasonable manner, and
I see NO reason that it would be locked. A couple of posts getting
around the censor were deleted, and yours was edited, in order
to remove the offensive content.

I think it was a couple of weeks. I was enough of a
spammer, regardless, that I had a custom tag already,
and was upset that I might lose it. Nonetheless, there
was no reason for me to be chosen.

Alex more or less picks them at random.
