I would disagree, at the, once again, risk of putting me in the position of an alex worshipping fanboy. To me the community here is quite separate from alex, he rarely makes contributions to discussions of any sort and hangs back doing his own thing, occasionally posting in or making new threads to do with Asperger's and Autism (usually in the News Section). To me, he's just here to make the site work on the coding end.

Also, your forum, to me, has the following formula:

l33t + Adult Forum + Random Discussion - Discussion + Popularity Contest = zOMG

Take it as a compliment. :jester:. Plus I've always wanted to say that! (just another rant from good ol' krabz) Also, you'll find my aforementioned evidence up in my blog in a short tic.

Urban dictionary... a quite nice definition of noob.

PS. Meekrob sounds nice. Hot crispy noodles.

After winning an award for Lurk and getting my required amount of credits to go to school next year BEFORE I start exams, I think it's well earned.

Heh, sorry about that. Meant that to mean that I deserved my PS3. Also, a year's worth of patience whilst saving up for it also counts for something, I feel. I also have the luck of having great parents.

Why, oh, why do I tolerate this crap? 'Cos I'm a nice person. But you have less maturity than any of Rik Mayall's characters.....divided by each other.

I'd never participated in an online forum until I joined WP last February. I started out posting mainly in the parents' threads, trying to give them advice from an AS adult's perspective. I was shocked by a couple of instances in which young men who'd posted threads regarding their anger towards women were judged harshly and dismissed by other posters as sexist or worse.

I saw this as hypocritical coming from other people with AS, because social anger and resentment tend to come with AS (regardless of gender). I agree that threats of physical harm are never acceptable, whether they're directed toward people IRL or here on WP. That being said, to intimidate or outright ban members who have anger issues or who like to provoke strong reactions is somewhat contradictory.

WP has shifted swiftly into PC-land over the past few months, and I'm sure that's unavoidable given all the publicity it gets and the corporate sponsership it now has. I always viewed all the verbal sparring and provocation between certain members as pretty much typical AS behavior. While that behavior definitely needs to be kept within certain bounds, banning such members has shifted the dynamic of WP from that of a dysfunctional family to that of a weepy, self-pitying 12-step meeting.

Self-pity is an indulgence those of us with AS can't afford (and usually don't even want). WP is now a place in which the "co-morbid" emotional issues carry far more weight than AS issues, so much so that members are now being banned for having AS!
But some of these comments went far beyond anger into hate speech and vilification. I found it offensive because I am a woman and would not treat people like that so did not want to be blamed by association. They were saying all women were like that and we aren't.
