Out of curiosity, what did he do this time? Was it the thing in the Haven? No need to answer if I am being too curious. :P

Why'd he go this time?

EDIT: I can imagine shorter second chances

I'm wondering the same thing.

This seems to be a problem. People are "taken care of," and that fact is made to be very prominent, but the reasoning behind it is left out.

A bit like:

"Admin": Goodbye.

I'd say it was possibly something to do with PMs, since I didn't notice anything with his recent posts...

But I would like to hear reasoning behind this ban.

I dunno, tough one. I banned a few on my site as I at times became too tired to deal with them... one started posting nasty stuff in my shoutbox. But my rule really was that they got 3 pm warnings and then banned. That way, no-one could say they didn't get a fair chance.

And alex, if you want to know why we want to hear the reasoning behind the banning of new_guy_64, think of it as instruction, so we may learn by his mistakes.

Yes, in truth, I am always on edge with anything I post as I am so fearful of this happening to me. I think this site can become a support system for many of its users, including me...and take that away, you end up with a very major meltdown, I can tell you, lol. I avoid cussing because of this fear, even though I see others cussing and staying around. With a warning you would know and be able to rectify your behaviours.

In addition to that, I'd like to know if someone could hypothetically be banned for abuse via PM's. Not that I have a problem with anyone - just that Quartermass brought up an interesting point that I had never thought about.

I think most forums have a pretty strict policy on pm abuse...that is no better than abuse on the public forum and is one reason pms are often logged on boards else there would be no proof.

As it seems to happen often nowadays on WP, maybe there should be a "Banned users and why so" thread around here? So that we could know why?

EDIT: Of course there is the problem of having the banned be unable to correct anything.

That was my guess as well. He did apologize, but an apology doesn't suddenly make things "ok." Still, all we can do is guess at the reason(s) at this point.

I'd like to know what he did that was so bad in the first place.
