but i too have wondered why it works like it does. :?

Considering that it uses a captcha system, I cant imagine what in the bloody hell else it could be for. Captchas exist solely to stop bots. That's literally the entire point of them. To make sure you arent a bot. That's their only function.

THIS one, as far as I can tell, does nothing at all, because it doesnt STOP anything whatsoever.

And this is taken directly from Cloudflare's own site:

"We also block threats and limit abusive bots and crawlers from wasting your bandwidth and server resources. The result: CloudFlare-powered websites see a significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks."

To be honest, reading over their own service description just makes me dislike it even MORE, because it's doing NONE of what it's supposed to; the site is often both slow AND filled with bots and spam. It actually seems more ridiculous to me now. I didnt think that was possible. I now know otherwise.

I'm sorry, I don't understand....what is its primary function?

I think it's to gaslight you into admitting you're a bot.

Judging by the difficulty I've been facing posting in this thread, viewtopic.php?t=302219 I think it's safe to say CloudFlare doesn't like people discussing Linux. Politics seems to be a red flag for it as well.

Okay NEW CLOUDFLARE FAIL here! I cant believe how many times I spot new ways that it does something wrong.

I just failed a captcha because I managed to accidentally smack a couple of extra keys as I went to hit Enter (my hand is a bit twitchy as is often the case after physical therapy). It was VERY obviously a wrong captcha answer.

....Cloudflare did not notice this.

*slow clapping*

*facepalm*
Is this also the reason why it doesn't accept correct captchas at times?
