I'll say one thing for Mr. Unmentionable, he went in a legendary blaze of glory.

Most other forums I have been on, and most of them were support forums, it was clear when someone had been banned based on their avatar profile thingy. Here it's a red x and says banned where it usually says veteran or tufted titmouse. But that is rarely done here. Instead banned members appear active.

I believe the primary reason why it's against the rules to discuss banned members is to protect their privacy. In other words it's often none of your business why they got banned. In some cases however, it's quite clear why they got banned.

On one forum I was banned, a global mod actually started a thread called Member Ezra Banned. It didn't go over very well.

^yes, only alex is capable of doing that here. i don't have such permissions. i agree that if it were done universally it would eliminate a lot of unnecessary guesswork (and maybe warnings like sly pointed out).

a public ban list may help but that also has clear drawbacks.

I don't see how the mod system can work correctly without an admin. And I don't mean Alex. I mean a regular member or current mod other than the developer as an acting admin.

So a few things:

- I have literally zero personal animosity towards Ferris.
- People seem to be missing that he banned a whole bunch of users for no reason. Not just mods, some regular users at all. It was the worst case of mod abuse I have ever seen and there is no way he can continue as a moderator after that.
- Agent 47 is very obviously SaveFerris.
- I think it would be unrealistic of us to say that nobody can discuss last night’s events. So until someone says otherwise, I say you should just discuss away.
- However, given that Ferris is still using the board, the rules on personal attacks must remain in force.

There are some more things I won’t comment on as we probably need some agreement from the mod team first.

Ferris didn't ban me. As usual I get left out of everything

Maybe being a mod was not the right task for Ferris.
He's an excellent supporter for those in crisis - including myself - but he sometimes used his mod powers irresponsibly, even if for joking at times.

I am extremely sad. I love Ferris, I love Raphael, I love Fnord. WP is just a reflection of what is transpiring in the world as a whole, that tolerance is out of fashion. Where did all the "softness" of humanity go?

I can relate to feeling saddened and disillusioned by recent events here. Not a judgement statement, more so how I perceive things to be.

As I said before, practical barriers on this site leads to a 'work around' culture and this is a cycle that will repeat itself unless realistic changes can be achieved by the administration.

Also to mention the masking of their autism that the mods have to do to at times to complete their expected duties, this kind of intolerance of our natural way of being creates an ethos on the site that is in conflict with it being a support site.

This all happened during the night for me, I'm very curious to know what's gone on!

Not that I'm a regular but Ferris did seem decent.
