It's not physically harming you, after all...

No, a better analogy would be if you have banned the words bacon, shoe, and stapler in your house. You are within your rights, but you're still an idiot.

The resolution still lies with you; if you don't like it, you have the right to leave. You do not have the right to determine what is appropriate in the house of another. If you don't agree, great. Calling others idiots for having their own opinions is pretty weak, and insulting others is another point of issue in regards to the ToS.

I was in the Navy, kid. And there I learned how to express myself more fully and completely than you ever will, and without using a single profane word. That any contemptible wretch can spew their fecal vocabulary at will serves only to reveal their utter lack of talent and command of language. Profanity is a worthless blight on communication, and those who can not get by without it are condemned to wallow in their own filth, which they vomit forth at every opportunity to remind the rest of us just how far we've risen above the primordial slime. Any beer-swilling, chain-smoking, unemployed lager lout can use four-letter words to describe the contents of a septic tank, yet there exist a few social misfits whose pride revolves around their intimate knowledge with the same effluvial matter and their familial relations thereto.

Anyway, that's just my opinion ...

Wait, I want to use *more* words and you're calling my vocabulary *limited*? Even though it's limiting to be told to use *less* words?

And I will never in my life understand how swearing brings to mind uneducated louts. What in the world does that have to do with education level? Words are meant to be used, and if we can't use the words that are appropiate to the situation, then we're not truly communicating.

Yet you seem to disagree with me...how can you concur with that--my key point--and be against my view? That makes no sense. By limiting our vocabulary in such artificial means, we thereby limit our communication. Unless we can say the words that fully express our thoughts, we're not properly expressing them.

OK then, I will say the words that fully express my thoughts towards you...

f**k off, and get the hell over yourself.

How's that?

Edit: interesting, the swear filter automatically makes the "f" lower case.

Here's the bottom line: The rules aren't going to be changed to suit you.

What are you gonna do, 'Gabbiani?

I ain't never heard of a feminist and an Asian philosopher librarian being so passionate about how the sacredness of private property ownership trumps every other consideration.

We got closet Republicans crawling out of the woodwork all over the place.

Kinda reminds me of those Vietnam era bumper stickers: "America, Love it or leave it."

Or like George Wallace said, I think it was in 1966, "If somebody owns a business, and they want to serve only people with red hair and green eyes, that's their right."

It seems to be the belief here that there are only two options, either "sit down and take it" or "leave". I'm trying to work on a third option, "remain but ask questions".

Where do you get the impression I want the rules changed just for me? I'm saying that for ANYONE, to keep them as such is illogical.

Once again you prove that it is you who needs to "get over yourself" I'm tired of seeing posts from you where you act like you are better than other people, and animals. Your tone in general is snarky, rude, arrogant and sarcastic. I'm really sick of it. Being in the Navy, as you state above, really doesn't make you better than anyone. It's seriously about time you learn that you aren't better than everyone. And obviously the only thing you will think to do is, make a reply to this post, once again proving how full of yourself you are. I'm honestly sick of you, stop trying to make other people feel less then they are. People like you are actually the lesser person.

actually you BOTH need to get over yourselves.

The following activities are unacceptable on WrongPlanet:
2. Personal attacks.
This includes insinuation, ridicule and personal insults, regardless of whether direct or indirect. Attacking an opinion, belief or philosophy is acceptable, but attacking the person making the comments is not.

Alright Merle, thanks for your help!

I was trying to demonstrate how effective non-profane language is at getting the same message across as profane language.

I over-stepped the bounds, but at least the point got across to someone.

I'll be good.

Your question has been addressed; you are unsatisfied with the results, as it remains illogical. The situation is not going to change any time soon, and the response from both individuals and moderation has, while with some support for the theoretical, was supportive of keeping the status quo and explained why. If you choose to use profanity as part of your expansive vocabulary, then you may do so while being fully aware of the consequences. The rules don't make sense to you, and in a perfect private world they might be different, but this is the scenario that you are faced with... and when it is continued to be questioned, then the decision becomes yours, not that of those being pressed.

SoM, if you have an issue with Fnord it would be appropriate to contact him directly or contact a moderator - attacking publicly and hijacking another thread for such purpose is not.

and you, BlackjackGabbiani, I see the meaning of the word 'troll' as: Posting derogatory messages about sensitive subjects on newsgroups and chat rooms to bait users into responding.

Is this your intention?

And once having done so, you again have two options:

You can either accept the answer that was given to you, or you can whine and complain and argue and pretty much carry on like a ten year old girl that didn't get her own way.

What is it about Wrong Plannet that is keeping you here? Do you know? You stated on Page 1 that you have received a PM with links to at least two other Asperger sites that would give you the linguistic freedom that you are arguing for, yet you are still arguing here.

Curious, isn't it?
