Another thing to think about is just how gosh-darn hard it is for some users to actually get someone who's both qualified AND smart enough to give them a proper diagnosis. They could be Aspie and yet never have the chance to prove it.

Yeah the way I look at it DX is not that important. The common thread is social cognition problems leading to poor/delayed learing of social skills. One we all
may have started with different levels of impairment but a few facts are clear
as we get older we get less impaired (learn to adapt to the NT world). Which
means older people here tend to be less impaired than younger people. Also its clear
that the level of impairment tends to worst in males than females. So that means
we have a true spectrum here. I'm seeing a high percent of the conflict coming from
the imbalance of impairment in the people here. In another thread a 14 yo guy wrote
a simple statement about a break up and a 30 year or so old aspie man and women
who both had mates seem to lable him as a nazi-war criminal. And then even the 14
yo old girl involved got mad.Again impairment in females is typically less but we can only guess in this case. But onething I do not need to guess is about is the 14 yo
had a hard time finding anywords to explain the situation and likely could not
communicate with her . She thought he was a real ba$tard but It just might be an extreme imbalance in social skills of the to. She was cute and will find a mate when
shes olders but of all the people involved in the thread the 14 yo boy has the bleakest
future. Yet he likely is feeling very unhappy with WP. Where will he go?

Machine1 why are you trying to blame the female aspies for this? You say females are not as impaired and don't have any problems with communication and socialization. You say that female aspies have it so easy. How do you know this? When i was a teenager i was extremely withdrawn and isolated and was practically a mute. Maybe their are female aspie members here no one even knows about because they are unable to post. And they are unable to defend themselves against your accusations. I can sympathize with all aspies not just the females. You seem to not be able to empathize with anyone who is not a male like yourself. According to you any aspie male who has a problem on this board - lets blame it on the female aspies.

I guess if you read this thread you know how not knowing a simply fact can cause alot unneeded conflict. :D No I'm not blaming aspies females for anything any where. Yeah
my words did not reflected what I ment. I'm not blaming that girl one bit. I was merely
guessing from their posts and what I read here that there was a big difference in the
two over all social skills. And that alone was the cause of the break up so fast. Yeah I
do tend to empathize more with aspie males the more I've been on WP. I'm sure
some percent of that thought on my part is wrong. That comes from my thoughts
that males do tend be lowwer function then the females here. The most complex
social skill is hooking up with a mate. I've never had a girlfriend myself. The
females here seemed to be married, bf/gf, between realtionship, aseuxal , and a small number single and looking. Im shocked every time I see another new female memeber is not single and looking. I'm about 99% certain I remeber your not single
and looking :P The depressed , suicidual, loner, aspie males here are a dime a dozen (yeah me to). :(

I hate to state the obvious here, but haven't you heard of scrolling?
As in, scrolling down to the bottom of the page or going to the next one if you do not see something of interest.
You don't have to read every post in a thread, do you?

I didn't date till in my twenties and the longest it lasted was a few weeks. It wasn't till i was in my thirties that i had a relationship that lasted. It took a long time for me to develop socially enough to maintain a relationship. Its not as easy being an female with aspergers as you try to make it out to be. I was depressed and tried to end my life a couple times but i don't talk about it on here because someone will complain that i am whining or whinging(sp?) whatever that means.

That's the whole point. He's neglecting what's best for the forum. One winged angels pointless one word garbage is clogging up the forums and probably the server.

Most of my posts have at least two words in them.

I loose it every now and then, but you ? :o

I can't speak for Alex, but it is possible he doesn't think the site needs active management. Its possible he sees the opportunity to vent as a good thing. :?

I was going to use my topic as an example, but it already has been. Now, before I go any further, I'd like to explain my position. It's both. I don't mind OWA and his goings-ons, for lack of a better term (spamming? Nearly, but not all of the time quite truthful). However, I do get a little bit irritated when he 'overloads' threads, such as mine. For 'Ask a stupid question', 'Say something' and 'Corrupted Wish' (which I have kindly resurrected, by the way, and he's happy about that), it's not so bad, but for others, for example my Avatar topic, it's appropriate for about five or six posts. It DID stop when I asked him and greyhelium to, but I can imagine they would feel like pests if they were asked to stop spamming every non-Random Discussion thread they posted in.

The Avatar thread I made was intended to be a partial joke in the sense of the Avatar, but not in the sense of the posting. I can't think of any more to say, even though there probably is more that I can say to help show my point of veiw on this. I might update this explaining my position further.

You can't have it both ways KBABZ, and saying that it is ok for '5 or 6 posts' or that it annoys you more when it is in your own-made topics is a double standard. This issue is as black and white as they come I'm afraid:

Issue 1) Does the OT, over-posting irritate you? (call it spamming if you will)

Issue 2) If yes to the above, what do you propose to do about it?

It is all well and good to complain, but without offering a solution then you might as well zip it.

I support intellectual discourse, even though I can't understand it most of the time. I also support people talking about boring topics that are important to them. Whatever floats your boat.

Theoretically speaking, I should find OWA's posts annoying and repetitive. But the fact is that I don't. In fact I rather enjoy talking with him. It gives me great pleasure.

So stick to your stress-relievers, and don't bother me about mine.

If it is this website that produces the greatest amount of stress in your life, I envy your existence.

Forget the shoes. Daddy might need a new pair of kneecaps.
