I haven't deleted anything. Now, QM and I agree that this site would be better off without Calendale et al. If we were the out-of-control mods that some of us would have the membership believe we are...

Taking such an extreme step would
be damned noticeable. I do my damnedest
to stay within the rules here, so 'twould also
be a pure abuse of power - power which wouldn't
last, and a banning which wouldn't last. but thanks
for clarifying how you "defend us". :P

'Tis the little things which are easily done, and not
noticed. Though, I do find it odd that Alex would choose
to maintain a mod staff essentially at disagreements with
his own views for running the site - one which drove all
the mods which agreed with him away, by one means or
another.

well, I see there are some issues with Calandale here, maybe that is why his argument about the site being locked is not taken seriously, wether or not he is what you claim he is, it is a good point though, I believe locking threads for personal reasons, like that one, which pretty much looks that it was, doesn't seem that ethical actually and points towards abuse of power. Wether or not you have issues with him, it is still a good point.

I exercised privileges that I have earned. Not all of my privileges are available to me today or I would have simply split the thread. I have nothing against all that s**t as long as it stays in PPR. There are a number of people on this site who would like mod privileges, but they don't want to earn them, they just want them given to them. Some of these people have never earned anything in their life. These people would be truely abusive.

Are all of your privileges available to you today? How do you feel when the site goes down? What's your coping strategy?

I don't share your opinion. I think the site went downhill with the loosening of the rules. That's what you wanted, isn't it, a loosening of the rules?

Actually, I joined the site and it was pretty free
flowing. I had assumed this was always the case.
You came back from your hiatus, and started threatening
people over SWEARING (covered by the word filter) of all
things. Yeah, there were a couple of people who needed
a bit of handling now and then, but what you did just started
an exodus of many of the most prolific and enjoyable posters
here. The best tend to be a little edgy, so they have to often
be handled with care. Certainly not the manner that you did.
I had hoped that the reinstatements and such would repair the
issue, but they were not complete enough, and the damage was
done. Hell, even I didn't realize that your position was going to
be quite the problem that it was.

They are not privileges. They are abilities that come with responsibilities. Maybe that is part of your problem.

Well, I’m not accountable to you, I’m accountable to Alex. He advised me not to issue warnings “til we can work the wording out.” I’m terrible at anticipating how people will react to the things I say and do. However, he has never questioned any of my bannings and I have questioned one or two of his. In fact, I don’t believe he’s ever had a problem with anything else I’ve ever done here.

well, I agree with that, maybe people who want to be a mod so badly, shouldn't be one, so perhaps that's true, what would be the reason to want to moderate a site as big as this one that badly, probably the social status here, very likely that would be one reason, however in this case, on that thread, it didn't look much for the benefit of the wrongplanet community, it was a personal issue. Because it was your thread and you felt annoyed by getting way off-topic, therefore locking it, so you can't say it wasn't a personal thing when you already said it was because it was yours, you should have treated that thread with the same level as the rest.

I don't much understand this, I don't and never wanted to be a mod, because I know is not that easy, and it is too much of a responsability on a site like this, the problem I see here is the judgement from the mod, as we all are humans, we all make mistakes, even mods, agreed? The thing is to be more open and try to listen more people's suggestions and analizying them, especially other mods, you seem to take all the responsability to yourself, and what about the others, shouldn't this be a team work or something?. How the site is going down btw?

Really? Four mods left after your resumption
of power. Two, banned due to actions that your
threats promoted. One, due to an argument over
how to handle a thread with you. And myself - you
were definitely the instigator of the actions which
led to my departure. And I believe that these four
mods came MUCH closer to Alex's instructions on
how the site was to be run.

Just an observation. Didn't you used to warn people about foul language or maybe things are more flexible now?

I can understand this. That's why we're making the
point.

Didn't he OVERTURN a number of your bannings?
If that's not questioning, well, we understand the
word differently.

I mean, how does it make you feel when you're unable to post due to technical difficulties?

I assure you, just as soon as Alex gets the site fixed I will split off your very important discussion.

I don't know where ya'll get the idea that I wouldn't do the same for anyone in the same situation who asked, but then I don't know where ya'll get most of your ideas about me.

Why yes kind sir, I've made lots of popcorn.
I must say I cannot imagine a fine, upstanding, young gentleman like yourself, indulging in such uncivilized, boorish and uncouth behaviour.
