i have noticed that the site is much faster to load recently.
this corresponds to when i first noticed the counter was not working.

i speculated that maybe the developer of the site has tracked the reason for the slow site-load times to the counter which may have been an inefficiently coded query.

every time i refreshed the site, the counter changed, and so it is maybe querying some cumbersome table and returning a "record count" of currently connected members or something.

maybe that code was bypassed, and maybe they are trying to rewrite it.

the site certainly performs as if i am there is no one here.

i do not suspect that what i speculated was true, the idea just ran through my mind.
