hola dear aspies
i'm quite new here and i found this web an amazing tool for us in several ways. but going to forums i found also that most part are venting the same we all have. not saying that venting is not good, venting is great, helpful and healthy, specially between us, aspies, who are often misunderstood by others. also, it can help us finding new answers, if we work to not be so obsessive in details, for example.
but as i said this website can be extremely helpful for us if we can do a bit more than vent & complaining. or apart than that, we can use it for open new fields. we use to have some time free, and i saw by what i've been reading that some of us have financial problems, no job and specially some of us are so obsessive in one thing that we don't allow ourselves to see other things. also, maybe we can find new targets of life for so much people here, specially the youngers to find new targets. and we all know how good we can be if we focus on the right work.
so i thought to leave here a proposal, that i think it can be helpful and interesting. some of us are bit lost, some of us have more experience in working on a specific thing. i do professional photography for example, so i can talk about this work and passion of mine, and maybe who knows i'm opening new doors to others, sharing and explaining what i do, and opened to help and questions. i have also some friends who are great professionals, even if they are not aspies, they can come and join us to give a "class" on something. one of my best friends is a scientist who works daily in steam cells... and i know that some of us are very keen in sciences, etc. maybe if i'll ask him he can come and explain us how is his work, that he puts so much passion in it and explain in a nice way not only for us to learn, but also maybe someone lost here will find interesting and will follow for more.
aspie doesn't mean being negative and depressing. instead, we can use this time of depressing to learn and being more useful, more positive in life. learning is always good, and doing this kind of thematic works, we can learn a lot between each others and also find new directions, lobbies, studies, etc. if we have here great professionals, why not? it's a way to distract depression and focus on other things.
i saw the music, arts, etc, but often goes to what you like or not, what is in the mainstream or not, what brings us memories back or even showing what we do. that's good, but we can go further... who knows if Tim Burton, a director i love and that i read somewhere that he's aspie like us... doesn't come here to talk about cinema and the creative process in his experience? maybe easier than bring here Bill Gates talk about computers in his asperger experience as i read also that he has. but for sure we all can find great professionals to come here and talk. i have no idea of financial, for example, and would love to read something more into our way of thinking. we can get some experts in astronomy, neuroscientists, arts, music, cinema, sociology, psychology, sexuality, nutrition, maths... etc, etc... i'm sure we can find great professionals to talk a bit about their working passions.
so maybe asking to the moderators if they agree, if they can open a place for us to do this by topics...
please let me know if this idea is positive and helpful... and if not only we can count on you but also if you find it useful and interesting.

That is a wonderful idea! WP already has the areas blocked off for it, the Work and finding a Job forum, the Television, Film, and Video, the Art, Writing, and Music and the Computers, Math, Science, and Technology sections!
when you get people confirming when they are going to be online to post and answer questions let us know and we will make the thread a 'sticky' on the top of the section!
